Shoulda been fired years ago. Current team looks like they’re quitting on him, hired the old video coordinator as OC because why not I guess, all he knows about Football is what Best tells him to be true, Ex-players in the NFL won’t donate money with him leading the team, it’s only going to get worse every week with him at the helm and truly at this point we would be better off if he was axed mid season and they did a raffle from the alumni base to be coach for the rest of the season.

Easterneagle 656 Awesome one liner, pretty funny. I agree Best has got to go. This team is very pathetic. EWU is a sinking ship all the way around, I believe that the AD is doing the best that he can. LYNN DICKEY did nothing in terms of growth. (Prior EWU president Mary Cullinan and the trustees of the university had no vision. Dr. Arevalo gave these guys a running start and they have run EWU lowly into the ground. ) As mentioned previously I went to EWU with one of the trustees and he is just along for the ride. EWU does have the talent per se to be a very good university but leadership and vision is severely lacking.

I would be genuinely curious to see or hear coach best’s own critique of his coaching and that of his assistants. Let’s break it down like film coach, what grade you giving yourself and honestly, should you be starting or being a backup? Best controls that of his players, so I’d be curious of his own reflection and whether that warrants being a starting head coach.

Reality is last year was the nail. We had a great schedule with two big payouts for patsies to come to Cheney. And we made a mess out of it. We hit the recruiting trail and portal with very little positive momentum to point to, and it shows. Talent is really below par and we're not even competing. The last loss was brutal... we didn't even look interested.Season tickets this year took a hit. AD Collins may be trying to find a way to buy out Best's last year. Season tickets will take another hit. Merch sales down and list goes on....
It's time to push the reset button. The whole athletic department needs to push the reset button. Hell, the whole damn university needs to push the reset button. When you came to Cheney 10 years ago, it felt like the university had life... it was a great place. The students had pride in being Eagles. The whole environment has changed; the university feels desperate without any vision. The football team shows it.
It's going to take a total rethink. As it relates specifically to football, we need about 40 transfers at just about every position. The talent isn't there. it's not even close. The coaches aren't getting quality kids, and can't find a way to win games. It feels like panic mode has passed and now it's just a persistent stream of failure without any path being taken back to respectability.
