2025-2026 Offseason Portal Tracker

NCAA lawyers had them settle this NIL/pay to play, and they did nothing to bring stability in return.

Common sense: transfer portal open two weeks after season ends. Move season up a week. You’re not ruining the Boca Ratón bowl by doing so.

then , I’m done with redshirt years and the 5 year rule. 4 years, undergrad degree, then goodbye. You have to be a student actually taking classes. You get one transfer after your first two years. If not happy with that go play in Canada or USFL or Arena ball, see how much you actually are bringing to table rather than the institutions.

NCAA is chaos and Congress needs to give an exemption. It is a unique situation that should be treated as such.

Ernest Campbell has also committed to Colorado. Jordan Anderson to SJSU.

Also, I know not portal news, but Carter Meeks has decided to reopen recruitment.

In regards to our new staff, searching through social media. I have seen that they have put a heavy emphasis on offering junior college players this go around. There are a handful of portal players they are going after as well but nothing to the tune of last year.

There are about 27,000 D1 roster spots. We’ll pass 10,000 in the portal today lol. What are we doing…
I would vote tomorrow for 2 years first stop, one transfer. Roster chaos doesn’t exist in NFL like this because tampering is illegal. NFL doesnt allow guys to move teams because a coach leaves. They have contracts with varying options and guarantees.

Hard for me to imagine that we will ever see another portal year like last year. It was done in a completely cavalier manner by a HC who was clearly trying to be successful for one season and then bounce.

Agreed. I don't think people really understand/appreciate the whirlwind that was the 2025 offseason and subsequent season. Also shows how big Marion's recruiting chops are, a big reason for him landing at CU.

Tampering is legal in the college game and these are annual contracts. I listened to a breakdown of the Demond Williams situation at UDub and the speculation is that there is next to nothing to stop that kind of a move as these aren't legally "pay for play" contracts. The cannibalization of the "power" programs by other power programs is a sight to behold. Absolutely wild times.

Correct, which is where the change needs to come. Even if a well to do department tries to bring stability, what athlete is going to sign a multi year deal when they don’t value the continuity or degree, and other schools are still only giving one year. They all think the next stop is better more lucrative.

And tampering technically is illegal, but all the other rules make it practically impossible to enforce in any capacity.

Something has to be done. One I liked was keep it "unlimited" transfers, but only the first doesn't cost you eligibility. Second one would force you to sit out a year and lose eligibility, like it used to (unless you were dropping from FCS to FBS).

This would still allow players to "cash in" on years where their value shoots up, but not year after year. And one would have to be very certain they wanted to portal out the first time, because a second time would cost them dearly (but still be an option if truly best for them).

Say Jamar Malone wins the Walter Payton award next year as a RS Frosh. He transfers to Arizona State in '27 (for $1.5M NIL) as a RS Soph and is top 10 in the Heisman vote. His options are, enter NFL Draft, Stay at ASU for $2M in NIL, or transfer to Ohio State for $5M NIL (but sit out a season and play in '29 as a RS Sr.).
