I have heard, Rahe say that every position is up for grads. Nobody has an automatic position, that they, the starting 5, will be won during the off season and in practice.

Okay...so, that, to me, was coach speech. lol I can ASSUME that Senglin, Bolomboy, and Braxton will be starters. I just don't see Hill starting at the 3 because of the dearth of available bigs. I know his dad might come on here and call me an idiot for saying that, but that is what I think. Personally, I don't see it as a demotion, but as an opportunity. He will be the first big off the bench.

Weber will have too many options for the 3. Yes, Hill can play it, but I think with Gittens, Richardson, Jefferson, Baker, Cannon, Williams, John all being able to play the 2 and 3 there are going to be some interesting things happening next year. I don't even think Gittens will be an automatic starter, but he is our best defender.

The fact of the matter is that Senglin is our point guard until somebody beats him for that role. He almost never had that role as a freshman and was FOY. He had that role as a sophomore, struggled a bit, but made good progress over the season, sans the injury.

If someone can beat him for that role, great. If not, I'm sure that he will continue to grow into it.

If I were you, Sac, I would be more worried about who will step in to replace your guards. :twocents:

I agree with Sac! Jeremy would be a great 2 guard, but plays point because it's a need position for the team. It's going to be tough for him to get his points AND be a distributor. I personally think Weber is a better team with Jeremy at shooting guard. It doesn't take watching 30 games to figure that out! All you had to watch is how the offense flowed better when Jeremy was injured.

Before controversy rolls in over my comments, I think Jeremy is a baller, unfortunately he's right now our best option at point! I beleive that if Weber finds a capable PG and is able to move Jeremy to the two spot, then Weber will win the conference. Hoping that Cannon is able to shake off the rust from his mission or Baker and John might be up to the task.

The anonymous voice from the student service bathroom said that Jefferson will play the point next season. You heard it here first. Unless.... was that you youngguns? You have started an epidemic youngguns, students are talking about weber basketball everywhere. If only we could get them to the games.

I am worried about our guards but I don't think you all want to talk about Sac St's needs......thought this was a Weber board.....and you would be surprised how many times I watch Senglin (BigSkyTV VOD).....you need a facilitator not a scorer at the point (but someone who is not AFRAID to score) and one more time I will say it, IN MY OPINION.....

You might think it's funny, but one of the negatives in getting students involved is this forum. There's a belief in which I share that older fans treat students like crap. There's also a belief that the older fans and Weber administration don't value fans who are students. That's why the atmosphere at the games and the halftime activities seem like a scene from Lawrence Welk! If you really want student involvement, create at atmosphere that's at least catching up to 1990's ...... You can only do the tricycle races so many times. Actually prefer away games because they're a lot more fun!

Students read the forum, but don't participate or register because the popular view is its just a bunch of old dudes Bitchin..... Starting to agree!

Demps will slide into the PG pretty easily. At times it seemed like he was the PG. If not, there are some young guys on Sacs team who can give it a whirl, but my money is on Demps.

I tend to agree, to a point, about Jeremy. He is a very good shooting guard but he is our best player. He needs to learn the pick and roll and become a better distributer but nobody is perfect right away. Weber has been extremely fortunate with talented guards who take on the 1. That is what Jeremy is doing.

Youngs...as for students. Fact of the matter there isn't a lot of interest on campus regrettably. I'm glad you post and participate. You present a different approach and I personally appreciate that. It would be fun to have more students but most forums are run primarily by graduates. Only thing I'd like to see is your student leaders try harder or at very least participate. Half time shows and promotions don't make the game experience the game makes that and part of that is getting involved. Standing and cheering...there is strength in numbers. However, if you have ideas on how to improve the atmosphere drop Bovee a line and tell him your ideas. I know he will listen.

EWU and Sac are in similar situations if Harvey leaves for the NBA or the PAC12. Both are options for him. I understand that he is graduating this spring. Both schools have a strong core of players returning in the frontcourt. That can often ease the transition to a new guard line. Also, they both have guards coming up who have D1 experience. It's true that EWU would lose a lot of scoring if Harvey leaves, but scoring can be spread around. Same goes for the guards at Sac. For Sac the loss of leadership and passing from Garrity will be the most difficult to replace.

I think that there is a 95% chance that Harvey will not be playing for EWU next year. If Harvey returns to EWU, I would pick them to win the BSC next year over Montana. If he leaves, they are still good enough to be in the top 3.

Sac will drop back a notch, but still be in the top 4 or 5 with the talent they have retuning. :twocents:

I have no clue as to where Sac may end up next year....I have to wait and see how Marcus Graves slots into the point/shooting guard spot.....McKinney actually had more assists than Garrity for each of the last 2 seasons but I'll miss his accuracy from 3 territory....we have a freshman coming in who has as pretty a jump shot as you ever saw, have to see if he can drain it in DI as well as he did in high school....I'm not going to jump up and down about next year just yet...I have to see how all the parts come together against decent competition (not the purple and white game...lol)....We have 2 open schollies and I don't have a clue what Katz plans to do with them...my hope is for a 6'5" or 6'6" small forward who can both shoot the 3 and drive to the hole (doesn't everyone want one of those?)....

D1 spring signing period is from April 15th to May 20th. A five week time frame.

The D11 period runs through August 1st.

JCs can usually just enroll.

Transferring players have plenty of time to find a landing place. Players transferring from D1 to D11, or lower, are immediately eligible to play. D1 to D1 must sit out a year, unless they have graduated.

I'm pretty interested in seeing what coach does with the rotation next season. I have a feeling he will stick with his 8-9 man rotation. I feel we have great depth and I hope to see more of a rotation but we will just have to wait and see.

I like a deep bench, but a lot of coaches go 8-9 deep and it works. I'm looking at the line up you put together. I like it! I think we are in good shape for next year. I'm very curious about Baker...... he's going to be a very strong addition to the squad!

Thanks for the insight. You seem to have a good source. Knowing what you know, what are your expectations of Baker as a player in the conference? A bust, solid bench player, starter, all-conference type? Just curious. I know time will ultimately tell, but was just curious what you thought.

I think he should be a starter but might be more valuable as a first sub in role, what I mean is he can come in at a lot of different positions to fix what might be going wrong in a game situation....I still think he will end up a starter....I'm jealous...he is our kind of kid.....first and foremost, good character...coachable, high bball IQ...excellent size for the guard positions...team first guy....got nothing bad to say (unfortunately, lol)...you're lucky to get him...As for All Big Sky, that is hard to say at this point, I have to see how he plays against D1 talent...

From what I have heard and seen, I watched three of his games, he is a great glu guy. That doesn't necessarily mean that he isn't a guy who can't become an All-Conference player, it just isn't his top goal. Glu guys get the team involved and do what is best for the team and program. They aren't interested in personal accolades. He is a guy who will do all the little things. He is very much cut from the same mold as Nick Hansen, Darin Mahoney, Kyle Bullinger, and Jordan Richardson. He can hit big shots when needed, he can pass when needed, his defense is solid. He is an all around Blue-collar guy. I don't suspect we will see him starting, but he will be able to play the 1, 2, and 3 for the Cats, and in all likelihood will probably end up getting mins at each position next year (as for the 1, I don't see him there that much. I suspect that most of his time will be at the 2 and 3).

If what you are saying is true, that Dusty can give us a few minutes at the point each game, then that would really change the dynamic of our guard rotation. I hope you are right. It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds. The big X factor here is Cody John and McKay Cannon. If either of those guys can win a little PT at the point it will also be great for the future of our program.
