This is just ugly. It’s like the first 3/4 of a game are irrelevant because Eastern always finds a way to lose. When you can only take solace in being competitive while losing, things are in bad shape. Is Monson just a bad fit? Or is there hope for improvement? I don’t know enough about basketball to tell if this if fixable. Year two for Monson and the team looks as bad as ever.

The reality is that we are a mediocre team that often plays close games only to find a way to lose in the final minutes of the game. Yeah, we’ve been blown out a couple times, but most of the losses have been close. I don’t think it’s a talent issue, I think it’s a confidence issue. They’re good enough to play with and team in the BSC but they need more killer instinct late in the game.

The talent is there, it’s like they just don’t know how to win a closely contested game. Hopefully yesterday’s win against league-leading Montana provides some much-needed momentum in conference play.

I was certain Montana was going to win that one when they went up by 10 or so late in the game, but then they really imploded at the end. That timeout they called was dumb, dumb, dumb.
