It's been a long time since I felt embarrassed about the way Eastern played, but today was outright awful on defense. There is a huge need for some soul searching on that side of the ball. I still have no idea how our schemes can be that bad, constantly playing with so few in the box and giving up a marathon's worth of rushing yards game after game.

It was almost as though our defensive staff hadn't spent a minute in the last two weeks watching film. I don't know how the D could lose containment so often, especially after they ran it right up our ass in the playoffs last year. There were two or three guys that missed their containment assignments over and over again.

Hard to believe we had two weeks to prepare, and that's what we came up with.

FWIW, Cory Mitchell played great. Frankly, I thought our whole OL played pretty well. But we can't win games without some support from the defense.

Horrible defensive game plan. Then again we won't see a lot more players like Flanders and SIncere this season.
