Jackson Dallas to Transfer to Portland State

http://sanjosestate.scout.com/2/869990.html

Center Jackson Dallas walked-on at San Jose State in 2008 out of Los Gatos High School. He wasn't on the spring roster but did expect to be available in the fall. On Thursday he informed Inside Sparta that he will be transferring to Portland State.

Often times college is the first chance for a young man to spread his wings and leave the home. In 2008, center Jackson Dallas decided to stay close to the nest and walk-on at San Jose State. However, the chance to explore new areas - and get a little bit of help with the cost of his education - prompted Dallas to leave home.

"I transferred to Portland State," Jackson told Inside Sparta on Thursday. "It just wasn't working out for me at SJSU, and I wanted to get away from home."

As a walk-on at SJSU Dallas received no financial aid from the athletic department. While he said he won't be on a full scholarship at Portland State, he will get some aid. "I'm not sure how much right now," he said.

Dallas won't be alone at Portland State.

"My best friend Nick Kalpin is the fullback there," Dallas said.

Dallas said he leaves California on July 7.

I like this one. A lot of great punters have come from Australia. He is a big kid too.

I hadn't heard about this pick-up before:
