2009 Schedule

Schedule isn't out yet, but I have confirmed that we play Weber State at home on September 26th. Anyone know of any others? I believe we open @Oregon State.

Now that former PSU coach Tim Walsh is coaching at Cal Poly, it would be great to see PSU and CP sign a home and home contract. I think it would be a good draw for both schools.

We'd love to see it too although I don't think either coaching staffs would like to see it.

EWU will be on probation next season......that has to suck. The Viks will go for their 4th straight win against EWU in Cheney.

Here are the confirmed games I have......September is looking nasty!

@Oregon State - September 5th
@Montana - September 19th(Yes you are reading that correctly)
Weber State - September 26th
@Northern Colorado - October 10th
@Eastern Washington - October 31st
Montana State - November 7th

Portland State's schedule so far.

Sept 5th- @ Oregon State
Sept 12th- open
Sept 19th- @ Montana
Sept 26th- Weber State
Oct 3rd- Sacramento State
Oct 10th- @ Northern Colorado
Oct 17th- Northern Arizona
Oct 24th- open
Oct 31st- @ Eastern Washington
Nov 7th- Montana State
Nov 14th- @ Idaho State
Nov 21st- open

PSU still has 3 open dates, still need 2 games to complete it, UC-Davis and North Dakota still have incomplete schedules, and so does San Diego I think. Unless PSU is looking for another FBS team to play.

Its a good Schedule, this is how I see it turning out. ( Remember I am a biased Wildcat fan )

1. Not much to say here, Oregon State walks all over PSU and wins 41 to 17
2. PSU plays a good game, but its in Missoula and WGS is like added super power for the Grizzlies, UM wins 34 to 21
3. In a tight hard fought game that will come down to the wire, hope its a traditional WSU vs PSU game, whoever plays better defense wins, Im going with Weber, 45 to 41
4. Portland State gets revenge, and throws all over Sac's poor secondary. PSU wins 38 to 10
5. Northern Colorado is getting better, but not quite good enough yet, bad defense. PSU wins 31 to 14
6. Until NAU can get a passing game going, they are not going anywhere, PSU wins 35 to 28
7. Another tough road game in Cheney, Both teams have great offensive days and poor defensive days, but home turf is friendly to the Eagles that day, EWU wins 56 to 49
8. MSU has a good defense, but PSU wins 28 to 20
9. ISU is still going to be the cellar dwellars this next year, not much improvement. PSU wins in Holt 35 to 21.

At the end of the Regular season, Portland State will be 5-3 in the BSC, and depending on who they play other than OSU, PSU will go 7-4 overall

Since when is ranking 3rd in pass defense considered poor? That must make the 6 other teams awful and the top 2 teams average.

Good point, i must have been thinking about another team. sorry.

Well, as much as I fear the September schedule, I love the October slate. I could see PSU winning all of its October games and building some nice momentum toward the end of the year. I'm very curious to see how PSU can fill out the final open dates.

The AD says we're getting six home football games this year, which by my count would mean two more in addition to the above schedule. If we're getting home games, that also means we aren't getting another FBS game, which is fine with me.

Very true, does make you wonder who is coming to town. Looking at the schools throughout the West coast I don't see a ton of options. I think UC-Davis was just a home-and-home. I don't think we would play Western Oregon again but what do I know? Central Washington maybe, Cal Poly I doubt. Chances are one of the teams may be a bit more east.

Weber State was Cal Poly's 10th game. They are still looking for an 11th game. I doubt that Cal Poly will play in Portland next season, they currently have 6 road games and only 4 home games so they are looking for a 5th home game to complete their schedule.

I do not know where you get your info, but Cal Poly plays Ohio University on Sept. 19th. Rumor is that Cal Poly will now play Sac State at home on Sept. 12th. We still have Oct. 24th open. What do you say Viking fans?

If those are open and we haven't signed with them yet, I'd guess we're still looking around. It'd be nice to find a non-Pac 10 Bowl team.......but not for the 12th.

My source is http://schedules.travisliles.com

Click on the Great West Logo and it will show you the schedules for all the Great West teams.

CP's schedule as of this website

Sept 5th- Northwestern State
Sept 12th- @ Ohio
Sept 19th- Western Oregon
Sept 26th- @ San Jose State
Oct 3rd- South Dakota State
Oct 10th- @ Montana
Oct 17th- Southern Utah
Oct 24th- BYE
OCt 31st- @ North Dakota
Nov 7th- @ UC Davis
Nov 14th- South Dakota
Nov 21st- @ Weber State

Teams are only allowed to schedule 11 games this year, so since CP has 11 games allready, it would be impossible for PSU and CP to play this season, but Im sure it wont be long till you see those 2 teams facing off.
