So how long did the coaches play Fleming with this injury? WTF were they thinking. Why would the coaches handicap their play calling by playing a guy who limits what the offense could do? That is a terrible decision by the coaches and that definitely played a part in this. It’s very disappointing that the coaches would make this decision especially with an experienced QB available (MBT). Wow.

From what I've heard, Fleming was injured just prior to MBT entering the game, he ruptured something during the play where he threw that last INT. They didnt keep him in, MBT came out as soon as the offense took the field again.

MBT may be more experienced, but without Fleming to step up, the Hornets wouldnt have done as well as they did this season. I think they kept Fleming in because up until he ruptured a tendon, he was the starter, the QB that had helped get the Hornets to where they were. He turned out to be VERY versatile, unlike MBT who couldnt scramble to save his life. Now don't get me wrong, I really like MBT, but Fleming turned out to be the better QB.

When MBT did get out there, he didnt look too hot. He was slow and spent way too much time in the pocket. Before he got sacked (spent too much time in the pocket) Diniz was set up for a long field goal. Had MBT not held onto the ball at least there was a chance to get the FG. MBT getting sacked was the nail in the coffin. He held the ball way too long, he shouldve thrown it away.

Perhaps that's why he didn't attempt a throw in the second half until the second to last series. He threw probably the worst ball I've EVER seen from any QB. Then he jogged back to the sideline and shook his head at Sperbeck pretty much saying, "I can't throw it coach"... Anyone else see that?

MBT held the ball too long and got sacked, which in turn took the Hornets out of field goal range. You can't hold the ball for 6-8 seonds and not expect to get sacked. Not to mention, the guy that did sack him had to get around the laft tackle on the opposite side of the field. MBT flat out held the ball too long and didnt throw it away like he should have.

It would have been around 40+/- yards from what I remember. That still doesnt negate the fact that MBT held onto the ball too long/didnt throw it away.

Thanks for clearing it up. It sounded as though they left Fleming in until they needed to throw the ball and that’s why they brought in MBT. I wasn’t implying that MBT would have done better that game and I agree that Fleming is very versatile. He did a tremendous job this season given the circumstances.

Also MBT came in cold of the bench and still gave the Hornets a shot. I wouldn’t be so quick to throw him under the bus in that last series. It sounded like the ags were blitzing every down and it would seem that a slant or a screen pass would have picked up some solid yards in that sequence. I only had radio so I don’t know if he held the ball too long.

The ball was on the 31 prior to the sack. That’s roughly a 48 yard FG. It would have been a tough one given the conditions so who knows if Sperbeck would have kicked a FG even if a sack had not been taken. Again, there are plenty of mistakes to go around so blaming it all on MBT holding on to the ball a bit too long is a stretch.

Agreed. The game in question, and for that matter the other 3 close losses, are full of if's, but's and coconuts. I was just ranting.

Agree with all the above posters, but two names have to be added one for offense and one for defense.

Chase Deadder had a phenomonal year as a receiver and Peter Buck was a linebacker who made tackles all over the field.
