Dailey is gone, long gone. The new QB, Tommy Edwards, is transferring from The Citadel. He was a walk-on there and did some great things. They've got a new coach who changed to the triple option, so he was looking for a new home. Should bring some competition to the position, but from what I've researched I still think MBT will likely be the starter when its time to start the season.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP)—Tommy Edwards threw two second-half touchdown passes in his collegiate debut to lead The Citadel to a 28-16 victory over Samford on Saturday.

Edwards, a freshman walk-on, replaced injured starter Miguel Starks late in the second quarter and led the Bulldogs (4-4, 2-3 Southern Conference) to 28 consecutive points and a 28-10 lead with 2:41 remaining.

Edwards threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Van Dyke Jones with 7:29 left in the third quarter and then hit Alex Sellars on an 11-yard pass that gave The Citadel a 14-10 lead with 10:06 on the clock. Edwards finished 10-for-20 for 141 yards.

Terrell Dallas added a 5-yard touchdown and Cortez Allen returned an interception 82 yards for the Bulldogs’ other scores. It was Allen’s second interception of the game.

Dustin Taliaferro threw for 130 yards and Connor Lowery added 94 yards passing and a touchdown for Samford (3-5, 1-4).
 
no MBT is a senior and will graduate this spring with just the fall left for his elgibibility also t.d. is long gone and hasnt been there all spring
 
SH, I know FBS to FBS transfers require a player to sit out one year. FBS to FCS (with 2 or more years of eligibility left) are allowed without having to sit out a year (same for DII to FCS, I believe).

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe that FCS to FCS does require sitting out a year...

BUT, I could be completely wrong so I'll defer to g2bah or HHD to check me on this!

That is also my take on FCS to FCS transfers, but I will also defer to g2bah or HHD.

Cal Poly had a DB transfer from NAU this year and I believe he had to sit this year before he was eligible to play.

I was thinking of Ryan Mole's transfer to CP a few years back. I believe he was forced to sit out a year.
 
I think Kadeezy has it nailed. I'll add that if a school discontinues their program, the players can transfer to another school without having to sit for a year. Harrell and Schrader are examples of this exemption.

He spent that year at Hancock Community College in home town of Santa Maria.

That is correct. When UOP gave up the ghost, amongst others, quarterbacks Graham Leigh, John Fassel (now Special Teams Coordinator for the Oakland Raiders), and Gio Carmazzi transferred to New Mexico (2 bowls), Weber State, and Hofstra (2 playoff trips) without penalty. (Of course, John-John's move would have been without penalty regardless as UOP was I-A at the time.) Other players made similar moves. For the sake of the players at Hofstra, Northeastern, and other programs going away this off-season, I hope their schools have the same deal UOP did: the school honored the scholarships whether or not the players stayed. That is, if the players chose to stay (and give up football), they kept the schollie. If they left to complete their eligibility but liked UOP well enough to return to finish the degree after finishing their eligibility, the school ALSO honored their schollie. I hope these schools are "big" enough to do that for their players.
 
This was an interesting addition in the receivers area of the roster. Jemeryn Jenkins, from Silverado High, was quite a productive dual-threat quarterback. A 3 star "athlete" on Scout.com, he's project to play wide receiver as well as possibly run some plays from the wildcat position. The coaches did a good job of mining the high desert area this year.
 
Right on. The coaches have done a great job recruiting the past few years. I smell a winning season this year. :mrgreen:
 
the new recruits do seem to be pretty talented but u never know till they get here. also it will be exciting to see all the mid year additions with spring balll coming up shortly

on the transfer issue u guys seem to have it mapped out. a general rule of them if u transfer up or lateral in division u must sit out a year if u transfer down or school discontinues their program u r good. like mbt who transferred down was good and with schrader and harrell each discontinued their program and obviously jc's dont count
 
I'm SO sick and tired of hearing "wildcat this, wildcat that" as if it's something new. It's not. It's nothing more than a single wing with an EXTREMELY restricted play set. That's IT. I wish people would quit talking about it as if it were the be-all and end-all of modern gimmick playcalling. IMO, the swinging gate is MUCH more effective.

The wildcat is for teams that lack a decent o-line that has the ability to generate a running game or for a team that lack's a decent QB. This is not Sac State's issue and any formation in a wildcat will only reduce the effectiveness of their offensive weapons. (Reed, Hendershott and the other experienced WR's)
 
The staff just signed four new players including the above mentioned, Jemeryn Jenkins. An announcement should be out shortly on hornetsports.com. Sorry, but I don't have any details, but I did notice some other new names on the 2010 Roster, so you can probably make some guesses.
