USD’s schedule is full for 2010. The only other “regional” FCS opponents open are CP and SUU on 10/16. I don’t see a CP game happening and an SUU game is probably even less likely. SUU has a pass heavy spread offense that is similar to much of the Big Sky offenses the Hornets see. I think that would favor them being scheduled as the defense wouldn’t have to spend a week learning to defend the triple option; which they proved they couldn’t do last year. The other question would be if either team would want to come to Sac as the Hornets need a 5th home game. I just noticed that SUU already has to travel to “the farm extension” next season; I doubt they would want to travel to NorCal twice in one year.
It will be interesting to see if they go this route…and very uninteresting that a matchup with CP would make the schedule damn near identical to last years…
