I don't see PSU showing up on the UC Davis schedule but we have several openings left. I hope we can keep up this competitve series.

Big Sky schedules are at http://www.championshipsubdivision.com/fcs-schedules/2010-schedules/big-sky-conference-2010-schedules/. It does show Weber State Oct. 23.

I'd love for Burton to use his contacts to set up a game at Nevada. I've always thought this would be the perfect FBS game for us because 1) travel costs are low, 2) you have a slight chance of winning, and 3) fans could actually travel to the game and gamble. This obviously won't work for 2010, but maybe for 2011 or beyond?

And once again, Montana is too chicken to play any opponents they may lose to. Almost everyone else is playing at least one Pac-10, Big Ten, or *gasp* SEC opponent. By the way, Idaho State playing Georgia? Wow...

Seems to be a trend starting for ISU. Georgia next season, Oklahoma and Arizona State last season. All tied to their current financial position I'm sure.

We're playing the Ducks and Sun Devils, so our financial position can't be any better, can it?

Here's to starting 2-0 in the Pac-10 next year!

I'd like to say we have a shot at ASU, but I have no idea how next years team will look. I think we have the potential to surprise some teams in the Big Sky, but it could be a transition year as well.

There's no way our defense can be any worse then the JG era. And at least we know what offense we are running. Towards the end of the Glanville era, that offense was not really the R&S offense at all.

Good point. Although, I sort of consider us scheduling either UO or OSU as a little different for us since it's in our own backyard. Sort of an easy money game versus a money game.

It's not only money (even though it essentially pays all travel bills and more for the rest of the season): we need to play Pac-10 teams whenever we can for exposure and possible future rivalries.

I wouldn't count on beating Arizona State. Sure, they lost a lot of games this year, but they were close. Amd yes, their quarterback situation is messy - but so is ours. They played a lot of freshmen and sophomores this year - they'll have a year under their belt. And their linesmen are BIG. Let's see what the schedule looks like six months from now.

Hauck to UNLV. Hopefully that will open up the Big Sky for some balance in competiveness. Tired of Montana winning all the time.

I wouldn't bet on that since UM has kept on winning the last couple of times they lost their coach to another program. Hauck is hardly the reason UM has been winning.

I know UTSA (University of Texas- San Antonio) won't have their first game till September 2011, but since they will be playing an independent schedule in 2011 & 12, I would like to see Portland State try to work a Home and Home deal when they start. My offer of hosting a tailgate if they come to San Antonio still stands.

Is UTSA jumping into the D-AA? What are they now? UTSA would help our recruiting - Glanville worked the fields of Texas hard.

I think UTSA is going from no football to I-AA. As I recall, they hired former Miami coach Larry Coker to start their program, and they'll be playing in the Alamo Dome.

This quote is from the UTSA's website's FAQs on some of their plans for their football program.

When will UTSA play its first football game?
UTSA will play its first football game in September 2011.

Where will home football games be played?
UTSA is planning to play home football games in the Alamodome.

In what conference will UTSA play?
The plan calls for UTSA to begin play at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS/formerly Division I-AA) level with the intent to advance football and the athletics department’s existing 16 intercollegiate programs to an NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS/formerly Division I-A) conference. FBS-level schools include Texas, Texas Tech, UTEP and Houston. Other FCS-level schools include Southland Conference members such as Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin and Texas State. UTSA will play an independent football schedule (not affiliated with any conference) in the 2011 and ’12 seasons.

They would seem like an ideal fit for the Sub Belt in 2013, but with their resources and commitment, I could see them in Conference USA in the near future.
