2010 Signing Day Party, Wed. Feb 3rd - Broad Facility

Two items to report with respect to signing day this Wednesday, Feb 3rd.

1. There are some really big surprises in store as far as recruits who have committed and I mean good surprises. Sorry, that I can't mention any names, but its not in the school's best interest that any word leak out on these guys because another school might make a move on them. Just know you will be pretty excited to hear about it on Wednesday, which brings me to item #2.

2. There is an Signing Day Party at the Broad Facility where Coach Sperbeck as well as other coaches will cover the recruiting class and to which you are all invited.

Sacramento State Football invites you to attend its 2010 Signing Day Party. This year’s event will take place on Wednesday, February 3rd, beginning at 5:30 pm in the Sacramento State Broad Athletic Facility. Be the first to see the latest members of the 2010 recruiting class and exclusive video clips of the signees. Also, hear from selected Hornet coaches, including head coach, Marshall Sperbeck. Snacks and drinks will also be provided. For additional information, please call the football office @ (916) 278-7053 or email @ [email protected].

Thanks HHD!

You may not be able to name names, but can you identify positions, star ratings, HS, JC, or Transfer, etc?

All I'm gonna say is they are high school guys. Bigger, stronger and faster. To be more specific could tip off competitors and we don't want to risk in any way losing these guys. We are all better served by waiting less than 48 hours for details. Just get ready to party on Wednesday! I think the staff has done a terrific job but there is still time for kids to change their minds, so we need to keep our fingers crossed.

The NCAA is granting a waiver, and Sac’s finally getting Bobby Guillory!! I can just feel it!!

Good to hear about the positive vibes, HHD. Hopefully it's an exciting day for Hornet football.

Sorry, but I've only heard about high school commitments, no Bobby Guillory news that I know of.

Hammerhead.

How well are we doing in the Sacramento Area. I.E. guys like: Jackson Cumming- Rocklin, Devontae Butler- Grant. Studs fron this area? Are we getting our share of studs from this area? You don't have to give names but just a idea how we did.

Jackson Cummings committed to Yale last week. He's a very smart kid. Devontae according to rivals has no offers and yet he's a three star kid. My guess is, and this is only a guess, he doesn't have the grades to be a D1 qualifier. Probably have to go to JC first.

So far we have at least four 2 star rated players and yes, we have some local kids.

One new recruit we can talk about because his commitment just went up on rivals.com

William Fuko Fuka (you gotta love this name) Two star rivals.com rated

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-William-Fuko Fuka-99971

6'3" defensive end from San Lorenzo high school. Was defensive lineman of the year for the Hayward Athletic League. With him and Ben Cowger, we have two great DE recruits.

Here are the committed guys from Rivals.com. All are two star guys except David Black and he might be the best of the bunch. He's a 6'5" wideout with 4.5 40 speed.

COMMITTED/UNSIGNED Pos Stars Ht Wt 40 RR Video Enrolled Hometown
David Black WR 6-5 200 - - Piedmont, CA
Chris Broadnax WR 6-3 200 4.5 5.4 Fairfield, CA
William Fuko Fuka DE 6-3 260 - 5.4 San Lorenzo, CA
James King ATH 6-2 194 4.56 5.4 Orinda, CA
Randey Peterson LB 6-1 185 - 5.2 Fairfield, CA

OK, here's another recruit who's commitment just hit scout.com and he's a very, very big guy!

A scout.com two star player and a huge offensive lineman. 6'7" ,300 lbs from El Dorado HS in Placentia (Orange County) give a big Hornet Stinger welcome to Derek Stickney. He had offers from us and San Jose State and we got the big guy earlier today. I believe he plans on being a criminal justice major so that may have helped us get him.

Better info on him on rivals.com, so check it out:

We should go after that running back from De La Salle, Teron Ward. He's not the first running back to be overlooked coming out of De La Salle because of his size (Maurice Jones-Drew got a last minute offer from UCLA his senior year in H.S) Last I checked he wasn't getting much interest.

When a player Terron Ward isn't getting any offers and he's a three star, all-state player, there's usually only one reason: he doesn't have the grades and test scores to qualify and will have to go to JC. He's had a lot of schools interested, but no offers. There is a reason, but being overlooked isn't one of them.

Stay tuned...good news is coming. :)

Here is a big recruit that committed to Sac State over offers from Cal Poly and San Jose State. Ronald Douglas of Chaffey High School committed to Sac State. He ran for 2,671 this and 24 TDs this past season.

SloStang - this was one I was holding back on because I hadn't seen it go public yet. I saw his youtube video Sunday night and was blown away. This is a huge, huge recruit for us. He can flat out fly.

For those of you wondering about us getting a guy like Devontae Butler or Terron Ward, well here you go. This guy was the third leading rusher in the entire state last year. Great size at 6'0", 190lbs. Incredible vision, great feet, and runs not only fast, but hard and angry. I absolutely love this kid and think he will be special. This is going to be an amazingl recruiting class in my opinion.

He's going to have fun running in front of an offensive line that will have guys that are 6'7", 6'8" and 6'9" on it.

I watched his video also and I would agree with you that he looks impressive. I am surprised that he did not get more recruiting attention. From what I could see he has all the tools. He has size, speed, vision, great cutting ability and does not shy away from contact.

I have been very impressed with what we know about Sac States recruiting class this year. The Big Sky better watch out.

Great pickup, this is getting exciting!
Check the San Jose board at: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=199&f=1122&t=5552851

They are not too happy losing this guy to little old Sac State!

Not very educated those SJSU folks, don't they know Sac State is DI? The only thing they having going for them is 22 additional scholarships, which they can't fund.

I'd love to see us play SJSU instead of Stanford.

Me too, although Stanford will be fun and pay a lot more! The funny thing about San Jose is that they consider themselves so much above us but they don't realize that half of the BSC teams could beat them!

When they realize Ronald Douglas has also chosen Sac over San Jose it will send them into another fit!

Another huge offensive tackle. This guy is 6'8". Can you even imagine our OL going forward? David Born at 6'8", Lars Hanson at 6'8", Derek Stickney at 6'7", Nate Devan at 6'6", Nate Doverspike at 6'5", Vince Weaver at 6'5", Kevin Galindo at 6'5", Chad Tannenbaum at 6'4" , Clay DePauw at 6'4", John Taylor at 6'3", and Matt Shinn at 6'3". Sorry, if I missed anyone... there are a few others at 6'2" and below as well. Holy cow will our running backs have fun behind (and then ahead) of these super-sized Hammerheads!
