Do you really think Sac will only be good enough to win 7 games?

WILDCAT, Unfortunately I have been painfully accurate over the last couple years when it comes to predicting Hornet hoops games, even 3+ months before the season starts. I would love to be completely wrong.

That was luck. Not going to happen two years in a row.

You do know they have beaten us the last two times we've played, including a double digit victory in Bako right? lol

Wow that schedule is horrific. I threw up in my mouth when looking it over. Nothing says excitement like OOC home games against McNeese, SEMO, and North Dakota. :ohno:

Well, the McNeese and UND games are home and home contracts. The SEMO game is the requirement from Bracketbusters. Actually, I like this schedule. We actually have out of regional D-I opponents coming to the Nest. You know how hard it is for Katz, and before him Jenkins, to get teams to come in there and play?

And the fact we have more home games than road ones? Seriously this schedule I think will be beneficial for the team this year.

I think you guys will be better than just 7 wins, I would switch the losses at home to MSU and PSU to wins

The home games are good and I understand they are part of a home and home contract, but it seemed like we have gone away from scheduling WCC and other regional schools. We had LMU and I think even Santa Clara recently and when I was a student USF and UOP were regularly scheduled. I just wish there was a more regional feel to the opponents for OOC games. Anyone know why the SoCal Big West schools aren’t scheduled more?

I haven’t taken an in-depth look at it but I tend to be more optimistic. The 15 wins goal I had in my mind for last season was obviously way too high for this program so I think somewhere around 10 wins will be the new benchmark for this season….wow entering Katz’ 4th year and I am hoping for 10 wins, WAFJ. :ohno:

Oh and wildcat, also note that Vegas set’s their over-under's based on K’s predictions, I think they have him on retainer.

There was a time when I made money off these games, but the nanny government took out the overseas gambling sites since last season...

Though, I am 3 for 3 betting against the spread for Hornets games on Tahoe trips!

Over the past 15 years those games against WCC and BWC teams comes and goes. I wouldn't read anything into it about not playing them. Remember, all teams schedule games against opponents they think will help their team grow for that year, for whatever reason. Some years we have openings on our schedule (primarily to do home and home) and some years we dont. One game guaranteed every year is davis. We also are in the second year of a home and home with Poly. So right there is two BWC teams. Plus we are on the back side of our contract with Bako, another regional opponent (though I think that is a 4-year deal, 2 at each place). Also, two years in a row we are getting good money from Wazzu and OU. I think those contracts are straight road plays, but it could possibly be a 2-for-1 and playing those teams next year at Arco or something, IDK.

Maybe also those schools like USF and Pacific have told us we need to get our RPI up to a certain level before playing us again (which is quite possible). So there are a myriad of factors in scheduling. I like this schedule because with the guys we have coming back plus the newcomers, it could lead to good growth for the program (at this point). YMMV.

North Dakota actually should be pretty solid this year, and they will be joining the BSC next season. They won the Great West tournament last year and played in the CBI (I think that is the tournament below the NIT) with a team consisting of a ton of freshman and only a couple upperclassmen. So that should be a solid opponent.

On the whole I think it is not a bad schedule... yes, there are some easy, not exciting games (Menlo?) but for a program coming off 5 straight single digit win seasons, that is not bad. Might give them some confidence and momentum, which they could definitely use.

My displeasure with the schedule wasn’t meant as a knock on the opponents, mainly just displeasure in that these schools won’t generate any interest among students & fans to encourage better attendance. The recent struggles is already enough to discourage attendance and scheduling opponents students and fans have never heard of doesn’t help the attendance issue either.

Just winning will generate the interest. If it takes a whole bunch of teams most people haven't heard of, so be it.
