Must not be the most amazing tournament.

as the rock used to say jabroni..."...it doesnt matter who it is!!!!!"

based on their past shamrock tourneys it really does not matter who it is. most of the teams they have brought in over the years are low mid majors. who ever it is we will just smoke them to get to the gaels.

Agreed. I might have to go to watch that one, unless Weber is in the FCS Playoffs!!

maybe St. Mary's is keeping the tournament as a three team one and giving us a free ride to the championship game. HA HA, one could only hope.

Which would be a pretty quality non-conference opponent for sure, the Gaels should be tough again in the WCC even without Mickey McConnell. Getting a chance to take them on would certainly make it a worthwhile trip!

getting a win at smc would be big time, even with mickey gone to the majors they will still be way good like you are saying. rob jones averaged 14 & 8 as a junior and will be hard to slow down. i went to smc last yr and saw them play. they were much more impressive than the high school gym they play in. but they did lose to usu even with mickey.

smc is like reed gym where the bengals refuse to play, very loud, low roof, small, easy to pack, very good home court advantage. just doesnt look that cool to play in a high school type atmostphere. if isu was smart they would go back there, it would help them.

if we are 3-0 heading to smc i do not think they will overlook us.

Looks like the 4th team in the St Mary's tourney will be San Francisco St, a D2 school. And Weber will open the tournament vs Jacksonville St.

Finally, its about time we found out who it is, they must not have been able to get another DI team to come.

Now that they have the 4th team, when will they have the schedule out? I'm taking 4 people to the event and would like to start planning. Their students will be home for the Thanksgiving weekend. Maybe we can fill the place with Wildcat fans.... Just a thought. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

We will play Jacksonville State on Sun Nov 27th, what time Im not sure, St Mary's will play San Fran St in I'm sure the later game on the same day

the the two losers will play in the earilier game on Monday Nov 28th, the two winners in the later game on the same day.

Not the most impressive tournament. I wonder why teams don't like playing in these tournaments. Maybe it's the two games in two days thing. Anyway, at least Weber won't have to play another lower division team [Weber will play Jacksonville St, who won five games last year, and then almost certainty will play St Mary's the second night]. Weber already has two lower division opponents, not counting exhibition games, on the schedule. Three games vs lower division wouldn't look very good at all.

this tourney should work out pretty well. im glad we dont have to play a non DI since we already have 2 on the schedule.

jacksonville state last yr 3-15 in conf (last in OVC) 5-25 overall
11 wins overall in 2010
11 wins in 2009
7 wins in 2008
9 wins in 2007
16 wins in 2006 - winning record 16-13
7 wins in 2005
14 wins in 2004
20 win season 2003
13 wins 2002

2012 roster
5 jr's
5 fr's
3 sr's
1 soph

4 players taller than 6-5. 3 are 6-6 and 1 is 6-7.

nick murphy, sr - last yr 15.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg
stephen hall, sr, 11.1 ppg, 5.0 rpg
Dominique Shellman, jr - 4.1 ppg, 4.4 apg, attempted only 17 3's last yr, 4-17, didn't play in 14 games. either got injured or isn't really one of their best players.

hard realy to get anything from last yr's stats. teams change in a yr as well they just werent good at all last yr. they were a very poor free-throw shooting team, they couldn't score, they were really bad rebounders.

we have never played them before.

OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE
Overall 4-0
Murray State 0-0
Austin Peay 0-0
Jacksonville State 0-0
Eastern Kentucky 1-0
Eastern Illinois 1-0
SE Missouri State 0-0
Morehead State 1-0
Tennessee Tech 0-0
Tennessee-Martin 0-0
Tennessee State 1-0

Good to finally know who is playing in this Tourny. For how hard it was for SMC to get participants, I hope Weber is getting some great benefits for going out there again. Honestly, I really think that SMC should make a trip to Ogden next season. This will be the second time in two seasons that Weber has made thier way to the Bay Area to play SMC, and frankly, the WCC isn't that much better of a conference than the Big Sky. They best be coming to Ogden in the future or giving Weber a shiz load of cash for the tourny. When the Cats played them last March you could tell that the Cats were done. There was very little energy on the floor and, I think, you could tell that the many injuries they suffered last year, had finally caught up with them.

With everything that happened last year, at one point the team was only practicing once a week, we've got to hand it to our Cats. They played brillantly!! Last years team may be one of my all time Weber State favorites. Some games Rahe was having a hard time finding enough healthy bodies to play and they were still one game away from winning the conference and hosting the post-season tourny. Awesome!! I can't wait for the start of basketball!!

Remember, even though the St. Mary's tourney isn't all top teams, playing in the Bay area is a help to recruiting visibility, and having players like Lillard, Otis, Richardson and Berry from the area builds awareness of who Weber is and what they can accomplish.

I agree that SMC needs to take a road trip to Ogden; they did the 'Cats a favor doing the late season game last year. I think our playing in this year's Thanksgiving event should be payback, considering the other teams.

Playing St. Marys grabs attention, they are on national and regional coverage TV a lot, so it would help Weber in visibility.

BTW, I was in Connecticut two weeks ago talking with some folks and they knew of Weber State and that it was in Utah....maybe word is spreading?

UCONN and Duke fans LOVE us because we beat UNC back in the day. I was in San Francisco a few years back wearing my Weber State sweater (yes it was cold) and our waiter at Bubba Gumps was a Duke Fan and he said Weber State will always be his second favorite team because we beat North Carolina :-D

He also knew Weber was in Ogden Utah.
