Baseball is having another fund raiser:
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State baseball program is proud to announce the details of its 2011 Grand Slam Golf Tournament fundraiser at Morgan Creek Country Club.

The event will take place on July 21 at Morgan Creek Country Club in Roseville, Calif. The cost is $1495 for a fivesome and the registration form can be found at the top of this article.

The Grand Slam Golf Tournament will be a 1 p.m. shotgun start and include both lunch and dinner. Check-in starts at 11 a.m. with free range balls.

Tee prizes will be a pair of Oaklay sunglass and a Sacramento State baseball adidas polo shirt. Raffle prizes include new irons sets, drivers, wedges a more.

Prizes for the tournament this year will be a new driver for each player on the first place team, new fairway wood for each player on the second place team and new wedges for all players on the third place team.

But will they pay up? I've heard stories recently about winning cars at such tournaments only to have the entry rejected. One was in Montana with a FG-kicking contest, and one has been covered by CBS 13 in Sac for over a year now (I forget what the contest was), where the promoter and the insurance kept putting the ball (so to speak) back into each other's court without ever coming through with a car.
