GCM you are the baseball guru here, what is your take on the early success of the new Coach? The Hornets took 2 of 3 from “the farm extension” to open the season.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - With two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning, shortstop Kirby Young smacked a single through the right side of the infield, scoring centerfielder Eli Davis from third base and the Sacramento State baseball team knocked off rival UC Davis, 3-2, on Monday afternoon at John Smith Field.

The Hornets improve to 2-1 with the win while UC Davis falls to 1-2. The teams meet for the fourth and final game of the series at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, at John Smith Field. The all-time series between the two schools, in the Div. I era, is now tied up, 31-31.

I love it. I think Christiansen will do wonders here, it was time for Smith to retire. Coach C has a strong pedigree and comes highly respected, I am jacked that we took 2/3 from UCFE. Hopefully we can mine the local kids and get more to stay or at least consider us.

I don't know much about the baseball team but I've followed them loosely over the years. We had a top 50 recruiting class this year or something like that. Sweet. I'd love to see us take 3 of 4 from Davis and eventually end up going deep into the WAC tournament.

I was looking at the football schedule and we can conceivably have a season where we can win out after that OSU game, IMO.

Imagine this: 2 of the big 3 programs at State kickin A**! Sweeeet!

Nothing like a 6-4 win over "the farm extension" to snap a losing streak. The Hornets take 3 of 4 from them. 8-)
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Brent Hottman hit a bases clearing double, Kirby Young belted a two-run home run and reliever Brandon Sandoval made a miraculous catch that started the game-ending double play as the Sacramento State baseball team powered past rival UC Davis, 6-4, on Tuesday afternoon at John Smith Field.
