NEW ORLEANS — The United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association announced today that Lea Wallace, Renisha Robinson and Ronald Brookins each earned second team All-America honors.

The trio recently competed at the 2011 NCAA Div. I Indoor Track & Field Championships at Texas A&M. Brookins placed 10th in the 60-hurdles. Wallace was 12th and Robinson finished 16th in the women's 800.

This season, the USTFCCCA changed its policy for All-Americans. The top eight finishers in each event receive first team honors while positions 9-16 are awarded second team accolades. In previous seasons, only the top eight Americans were honored.

Last year, Wallace was an All-American during the indoor season in the 800 and Brookins was an All-American in the outdoor long jump.

Brookins and Wallace did will at the Mt. Sac Relays this weekend:

WALNUT, Calif. — Ronald Brookins recorded the fourth-fastest 110-hurdles time in Div. I this season and crushed his own school record during the second day of the Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday.

Brookins ran 13.40 which blew away his previous best of 13.61 which came last season. The senior finished second in the Olympic Development Elite division of the race. His time placed him just behind USC Oscar Spurlock who ran 13.33. Brookins becomes just the sixth Div. I athlete to run sub 13.45 this season. The national best time of 13.19 is held by LSU's Barrett Nugent.

Also on Saturday, Lea Wallace competed in the women's invitational elite 800. Wallace posted the fastest time by a collegiate athlete, running 2:03.67 but was third in the race. New Balance's Maggie Vessey finished first in 2:02.51 while Lindsey Schnell of Brooks was second in 2:03.19.
