I predict you'll lose in Greeley. :thumb:
I predict UNC will find another way to lose to Weber in agonizing fashion. :thumb:

Things are looking great with our new coach. No more losing close games.
Dude, I like your enthusiasm, but how about waiting until they actually play a game before saying "things are looking great." It's only March and your coach has been on the job for like 4 months. You sound like UNC hoops fan calling their team the next Gonzaga.

That was one fan that said we were the next Gonzaga. Just one fan. Would you like me to say things are looking great in spring drills? Is that better? Gesshh...
Just saying I don't think you can tell much from spring ball, and it's a long time until the season starts.

So tell me, what is it about your new coach that has you excited? I don't know much about him.

BearDown;

Your team looked much improved in the game up here last year. I was surprised to hear that you got a new coach. I hope your team is improved this fall. OUr conf, seems to be getting stronger. These new additions are good and the existing teams are getting better each year. There are not a lot of patsies. Montana dropped off a bit, but nobody else has.

Earnest Collins was a player and defensive backs coach for UNC before coaching at Kansas, Central Florida, and head coach at Alcorn State. He has a great passion for UNC and football in general. He's certainly not as laid back as Downing was. According to the players I've talked to he's set a higher standard for us and has set the bar high. Scott Downing was a good recruiter and we did improve every year since he was at UNC. However, his record just didn't warrant a new contract extension. We had a lot of close games the past couple years, but how long can you keep saying that? Here's a bio on coach E from uncbears.com

No doubt!! I can see MSU or EWU winning it this year.

Beardown;

Your new coach sounds like a good hire. Here's hoping he turns out to be a great hire. Peronally, I hope you win every game, except WSU. The beauty of sports is that hope springs eternal. Everyone is undefeated, for now, and will remain so until next fall. If I could hand you a beer right now, I would. :nod:

Back to the subject of this thread and not the future romantic dinner between beardown and oldrunner:

WYO: W
USU: L (I really want a W, but USU is getting better...I think it'll be closer than the puds in Logan think it will)
SAC: W
UNC: W
EWU: L (Damn Red Rug)
ISU: W
SUU: W
UM: L (I'll be there again; maybe i'm the reason for the losses??)
MSU: W (No way in Hell Weber loses to these guys again. I hate the close loses over the years)
NAU: W
PSU: This one is iffy...I'm hoping for a W, but I wouldn't be surprised if Weber loses.

Hoping 8-3 Playoffs
Most Likely 7-4 No Playoffs

5-6, and that's being generous. You might own Sac in Ogden, but watch out for them... they're gonna be tough. I'd say between 4-7 and 6-5. Objectively I can't see much better with so many question marks at skill positions for you guys. Can't wait for some payback for '09. :twisted:

looking forward to playing on that lovely turf this season; in '09 you guys were favored by 2 TD's in that game and were ranked higher than WSU. as defending champs, you guys should be favored again this season, oh well, some things never change. should be a good game, congrats on 2010 champs but it's 2011. in '09 your LB Sherrit had a great game against us, he was all over the field, but it's still a team game...... see you in October

I don't see Weber losing at home to S Utah.

Of course you don't, because it's a rivalry game and you're naturally biased toward your own team. SUU plays real tough no matter whose turf it is, and gave us a hell of a game on the Inferno last year. Their QB Sorensen has legitimate future NFL potential, and overall they have a pretty solid team. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they were a playoff team in 2011. :twocents:

Weber always gives us a fight, evidenced by the series record (15-14 EWU) along with home and away records; 5-5 in Cheney, 8-8 in Ogden, and 2-1 (EWU) in Spokane. Looking forward to it as well.

I don't know if I'd even call it a rivalry game. They haven't played since '06 and Weber holds a commanding 14-3 advantage in the series. I'm not saying Weber couldn't lose, but I'd give the edge to Weber at home. Both teams went 6-5 this year. Weber returns 14 starters and 40 lettermen, and SUU returns 16 starters and 47 lettermen. SUU will have to be really good to make the playoffs without an autobid. And with their difficult schedule that includes 7 road games I don't see that happening.

I also dont think SUU will beat us, however I do think it will be a good game that will come down to the wire . They have beat us only once in Ogden, and that year we sucked beyond all measure, Coach Mac is 2-0 vs the Thunderbirds with a victory in both Ogden and Cedar. Its not quite a rivalry game, but it has the potential to be a good one.

Its the home game Im looking forward to the most. And I bet its the game SUU fans are looking forward to the most.

Yes it is good having a lot of returning players, but fortunately for the Cats, success on the football field is generated in the trenches, and thankfully on both sides of the ball Weber is returning key starters on both lines. On the OL Weber is bringing back everyone and has a number of talented backups who could start on any team in the Big Sky. On the DL the beast is back anchoring a line that is experienced. Yes, skill positions are important, but if you don't have lines, it doesn't matter. A great OL makes an incompetent QB look amazing, and frankly, Weber has a pretty damn good QB taking over. Hoke has a great chance of being the offensive player of the year. Granted, there are a lot of question marks, but in the areas Weber needs the players coming back, Weber has them.

Only in the backfield and on the wings could Weber be worried, but with the talent that Mac is bringing in, I'm not. There were a lot of skill players sitting last year.

Wow! Sucks that it had to be an EWU guy though.
