2012 Fall Camp

Sac Bee article on Sperbeck and his stepping back and letting Peterson take over the offense:

"(Sperbeck) has done such a good job with the offense, so it had to be a hard decision," Peterson said. "But it's a credit to him to be able to step back, and I'm just so thankful that he has the confidence in me. This place can be a premier place in the Big Sky."

The article also said Safron won the starting QB spot in spring. Can anyone confirm this is true or was this something kept close to the vest by the coaches? I don't recall any posters in the know spilling the beans on this.

I hadn't heard anything about it one way or the other, but frankly I don't care if he was named in the Spring or not. As long as the kid is showing improvement going forward and by the looks of it he is, then I fine with it. Remember, Peterson had SUU rip us to shreds last year so Im fairly confident he knows what he is doing in guiding our offense. Can't wait for next Thursday!

Article says Magleby is out with a bad back.

and coach Sperbeck brings in another kicker, Brad Cornish. Glad to see he's not taking any unnecessary chances this year with kicking issues.

Well, looks like promising young QB Jake Gehringer is headed to Saddleback College:

Since this is near his home turf, I guess this makes sense. Chatted a bit with this fellow last year, and he seemed excited about the prospects of playing for Sacramento State. No idea what happened with the situation here with the Hornets.

The QB position is a major concern, just no way around it. Mr. Peterson is a good sign, but he can only do so much. Was really hoping Magleby would come in here and take the job, just hasn't happened.

Look for Sorenson to go in if needed. Peterson coached Sorenson's older brother while at SUU and that guy is good.

Sorenson will be the starter at some time this year and take over the team going into next year. Hopefully in the next four years we will see a very good QB for Sac develop.

I am sure Geringer left b/c he knew that Peterson was being brought in and given control of the O. Peterson wanted his own recruits and he got Sorenson, heir apparent.

Yeah, it makes sense in the sense that it's nearer to home than Sac State. But there are many CCs closer to Newbury Park (Ventura Co). Ventura has two CCs: Ventura CC and Moorpark CC. I guess he heard about Moosh's time at Sac St and didn't want to play for him at VCC.

GCM It's Sorensen not Sorenson in both cases, they may be related but I don't think they are brothers. Brad is from Colton and Nolan is from Clovis. The names of the parents are also different on the rosters. Nolan looks like a big guy though and a good pickup.
