2013-2014 Schedule

According to this site, WSU is actively looking for games. I have only scrolled through once, but I have seen that we are trying to get in a exempt tourney, willing to travel to any time zone to play, and are trying to find someone to start a home/home series. We are even willing to begin the h/h on the road, something the other teams looking for games don't mention. I hope we can land some good games this year, home or away...

Based on open dates, my top choices would be Pacific, Central Michigan, Penn State and Northern Iowa.

So much of scheduling comes down to how excited a teams fan base will be to play us. If they arent excited at all then teams might as well schedule a game against Portland State. Weber needs to find a way to brand the school better and convince teams like Boise that we would be a good game for them. I wonder if Espn would have any interest in putting a game or two on T.V.

I would love to see us get back with a H/H with Utah. I love the in-state games!!!!!

problem is, Utah doesnt want to play us, home or away right now. So I say screw the cowards to the south and find someone else to play

Weber is willing to play the Utes... Problem is that the Utes aren't willing to play the Cats. Not even as a guarantee game. Funny thing, when the Cats have been down in the past, we have always been willing to play our instate foes, but when the MIGHTY Utes have been down they won't play us. COWARDS!! Talk about having a lack of integrity, faith, and most important courage.

Okay the official schedules out

First game will be tough at BYU
Playing UCLA at Poly will be fun. They like to drop the occasional preseason game to a Big Sky team.
CSU on the road will be a great test for the team.
USU and SJSU at home will be winnable games
I hate that we are playing Division II teams in December. I like it if those games are right out of the gate.

All in all a good schedule.

Two MWC games at home is cool. I'd rather see us play two more road games for money than see those non division one schools.

All in all not too bad. I like that we will be playing teams from the Pac-12, WWC, MWC and WAC. I think that my the end of the season there is a good chance 2 or 3 of the teams we are playing could end up being top 25. I guess I am okay with the two D2 schools, just nobody will come here. I will miss the bracketbuster games though. Two games on our schedule are direct results of the BB games. I guess ORU will be next years schedule. Overall, not too bad.

I like that there are 29 games scheduled this year. I think last year there was 27 scheduled.
Other positives. I like the non conference road games. We play 5 of them BYU, UTA Colorado State, UVU and UCLA are good games. Im going to go out and predict we lose BYU ( We never win there) and UCLA. I think we win at UTA and UVU. I looked up the Colorado State team roster and all 5 of theirs starters were SR's last year. They have to replace 59 PPG next year, but Im sure they will be tough. I like our chances though with a veteran team coming back. So Im guessing we go 3-2 on the road next year in OCC games. I wonder if the the Colorado State game is a home and home. That would be fun to see them in the Dee in 2014. I was hoping to see a pre season tournament. This is 2 years in a row we are not in one. I like those games. We get to play good teams on neutral site.
We play OCC home games against USU and San Jose State and 2 who knows what level crappy teams. Im happy about the USU and SJSU games, but the other 2 REALLY? Probably the coaches had to scrap to find them since it seems most other D1 teams are scared to come to the DEE. Its sad. I predict 4-0 at home against the OCC games. Cant wait for the Aggies. We played like crap last year up there and lost even though I felt we were the better team with more talent. Its payback. I hope we lay the hammer on them next year and I think we will.
I like the 20 conference schedule. I would rather play conference games then schedule more D2 and NAIA games. We have a tough 4 game road trip with the latter being the Montana schools. I think the North Dakota and Northern Colorado road trip will be tough, but other then those 2 trips I see us rolling through conference. Im going to say worst case we are 15-5 and best case 18-2 in conference games.
Now its the boring summer time waiting till Weber hoops starts in November. I can't wait. We are going to be good like always.

I like the schedule. Randy likes to schedule easy games around finals and just before conf. starts. With this slate, a couple of breathers isn't bad. I like starting league games at home. It's going to be another epic year. :coffee:

Not bad, poor OOC home slate, but nobody wants to play us in the Dee, which is not suprising considering we are a combined 47-4 at home in the last 3 years. Road games are solid

Two MW teams? To me that is pretty cool. I wish we had more home games, but Weber is a Big Sky school. Until the rest of the conference can compete we are stuck with a bunch of garbage that makes us stink.

I don't like the crap DII/NAIA games, but until the department has $$$ to bring in better competition we are stuck with what we can get to come the Dee. I'm thinking the CSU game is a home and home. Also, those crap games are at times where the coaching staff would rather have the team play a crap team than another scrimmage. Good to play someone else, work out the kinks, and let some other guys play. Also, it is a chance to get prepared for better teams. There is logic in the madness.

SJSU was in the WAC when the home and home was contracted Im sure, And as much as I hate Stew, he isnt the kind of coach to Big Time anybody.

Im willing to bet money if BYU got invited to a "power conf" they would big time us just like Utah did.

We have 3 MW teams right? SJSU made the jump with USU.

He was talking about my complaint about our home schedule, we do play 3 MWC teams though CSU, USU and SJSU.

I really hope that the CSU game is a home and home, that would be sweet

The Cat's money game is UCLA. So, I'm thinking that CSU has to be a home and home. It might be a 2 for 1, but still that is three games against CSU. Also, CSU lost 5 SRs who helped the Rams go to back to back NCAA's. It is a great time to visit Ft. Collins and pull out a W. To bad it is during the week or else I would totally be heading out there.

By the way...I hope the BYU game on Nov. 9 is a 7 or 7:30 tip. Weber is hosting SUU in football at 1. Maybe Senor Bovee could get the game to have a noon kickoff instead giving us crazed basketball fans time to get to Provo for the game. Great day to be a Wildcat!! SUU at home in football and the start of the basketball season against BYU in a stadium named after a Weber State grad. Kinda weird that BYU's basketball stadium is named after a Weber State alumnus.  :kisswink: :coffee: :coffee:

I can't believe that nobody has brought this up. In Mid-Feb Weber plays four road games in a row, at SUU, at ISU, at UM, and at MSU...however, the ISU game is on a Monday and then the Cats play in Missoula on Thursday.

Everyone in the league has something like that. I was just happy that we got the griz on Thursday instead of Saturday. Overall, I think that this years schedule is more to our advantage than last years. I like the way that the league games have been scheduled. For basketball, I think the league has grown too large, if we are only going to get one team into the dance. Getting a better league RPI falls heavily on all of our teams scheduling hirer rated teams and winning more of those games.

I've said it over and over, but the league needs to start putting more pressure on schools to upgrade their programs in basketball. That starts with investment in infrastructure and carries over into scheduling. We can not expect the national perspective of the BSC to be upgraded when we have schools refusing to upgrade.

Grow a sack, BSC comish! :coffee:

It is what it is. I like the challenge. :thumb: But it does make you scratch your head.

UM does have to visit Ogden after a long road trip and on a Saturday. If the game is anything of importance like it has been the past couple of years, then a Saturday night at the Dee could turn into being one of their worst nightmares.
