Dorian Cason Signs With Portland State Basketball

http://www.goviks.com/news/2014/6/11/MBB_0611145959.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Dorian Cason has signed an athletic aid agreement with the Portland State basketball program for the 2014-15 academic year. Cason is the third big man to sign with the Vikings this year.

Cason, a 6-7, 250-pound center, comes from College of Southern Idaho where he spent the 2013-14 season. Cason played in only one game, suffering a knee injury in the season-opener after scoring six points with four rebounds in six minutes. He played the 2011-12 season at the University of Portland, competing in 31 games, averaging 18.1 minutes, 4.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

"We need to keep adding guys with size," said Viking Coach Tyler Geving. "Dorian has a big strong body and has played at the Division I level. He had success at the University of Portland as a freshman and knows what it takes to play at this level.

"Dorian has the ability to be a good rebounder in the Big Sky. He is a capable scorer with his back to the basket, he can shoot with a little range too, and is a good defender."

A native of Fontana, CA, Cason prepped at Summit High School. As a senior, Cason was rated the number 24 prospect in the state of California. Cason led Summit to a CIF Southern California Division II title. He was a two-time Sunkist League Most Valuable Player. Cason averaged 15.1 points and 9.8 rebounds as a senior and was named to the All-CIF Southern Section Team and Riverside Press Enterprise All-Area team.

Cason is the fifth member of the Viking recruiting class this spring. PSU has seven returning letterwinners, three returning starters and also has three redshirts returning in 2014-15.

The Vikings come off a 17-15 season, 11-9 in the Big Sky. PSU reached the Big Sky Tournament semifinals and earned a bid to the Collegeinsider.com post-season tournament.

Yes, let's hope he continues in the line of Jeremiah Dominguez, Jamie Jones and Tim Douglas!

Great local pick-up for the Vikings!

Portland State----With the pick up this past week of former Benson Tech star Bryce While by the Vikings, it should bolt them on paper into the top three in the Big Sky for preseason predictions.

The Vikings have had a wonderful recruiting year, they will be a really exciting team to watch in 2014-15 and of course you can always go to a game and "Get Stuffed", as any Viking basketball ticket will allow you to eat as much as you want at any game once again this coming season.
