• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

2015 Baseball

Hornets finally get a mid week game win to move to 17-10. Hornets score the go ahead run in the 8th and McLoughlin set the career WAC saves record with 30 in the 3-2 win over Pacific.

Hornets were swept by Seattle this past weekend which pretty much eliminates the chances of a WAC regular season title. It’s now a race between GCU and Seattle for the WAC crown.

Th: 3-2 loss in the 11th.
Fri: 5-2
Sat: 2-1

Hornets defeat UC Davis in Davis today to get back on the winning track 4-2.

Good to see the offense come back to life

Now on to Utah Valley this weekend and hopefully the bats will stay alive!!!

Always so sweet to beat the Aggies.

Hornets have another poor showing on the road at UVU.

F: Hornets lose big 13-2.
Sat: Sam Long uncharacteristically give up 7 runs in the 6th and lose 11-9.
Sun: Hornets snap a 5 game WAC losing streak in a 13-2 murcy rule shortened win.

The Hornets struggles continued as a hot Bakersfield came to town.

Fri: Hornets are edged out in a pitchers duel 1-0.
Sat: Hornets almost get no-no’ed in a 5-0 loss
Sun: Hornets salvage the series with a 7-4 win.

Hornets fall to 20-18 (8-7 WAC) on the season and head to USF tomorrow before facing Fresno State at Raley field on Wednesday night.

Nice 9th inning rally to beat the WCC Dons on the hill on a very cold night in the City.

Keep it going tonight against the Dogs of Fresno State in downtown Sac

Hornets split their midweek games and now hit the road for an extended road trip to the Midwest...with only 4 of the final 16 being played at home (1 of which is at Raley). :|

Tue: Hornet rally in the 9th to beat USF 7-4.
Wed: A close game gets out of hand as the struggling Hornet bullpen gets shelled in a 8-0 loss to Fresno.

Hornets go down at North Dakota in front of 154 people. Win yesterday in front of 100. YIKES. What to say. Best of luck tomorrow in front of another tiny crowd in Grand Forks, ND. Our softball team drew more today in Sacramento then the baseball team at UND in the first two games. Hope the Hornets become the team they can be and figure out what needs to happen at the plate and on the mound.

Hornets get off to a rough start on their long road trip by dropping 2 of 3 at UND. This was UND's first win over the Hornets and first series win since joining the WAC 2 seasons ago.

Fri: Hornets win 5-1.
Sat: Hornets no show in a 10-0 loss.
Sun: Hornets lose a close one 2-1.

The schedule only gets tougher as the Hornets have a tough double header at #17 Iowa followed by a game at Notre Dame this week.

Hornets go down to number 15 Iowa by one run in 18 innings yesterday and lose to the Irish today 2-0. So cool that our program has come to this point where we are traveling around the country and taking on teams from the Big 10 and the ACC. how cool is that? The Hornet baseball team representing Sac State in Iowa, Indiana and Illinois after a 3 day stop in North Dakota. Cannot recall another road trip like this for any Hornet sports team. this has got to be history in the making.

Best of luck to our Hornets in the Windy City against Chicago State

interesting to see the attendance at Iowa and Nortre Dame. Very similar to home games at Sac State. North Dakota attendance, MUCH smaller than Sac State home games. But kudos for UND for fielding a baseball team that beat us 2 out of 3. Be nice to have baseball in the Big Sky Conference but most Big Sky schools barely have enough teams to be Big Sky members.

Interesting comments on the attendance. I wonder how attendance will be impacted once the lights are installed?
BSC won’t sponsor baseball, and that’s a good thing. I thought there might have been a chance at BSC baseball when SUU and UND were added, they both sponsored baseball at the time, but SUU dropped its program when it joined.

Tue: Hornets lose in 18 innings 4-3 at #15 Iowa.
Wed: Hornets pitch well but can’t get run support in a 2-0 loss at Notre Dame.
On the road at Chi State this weekend.

Hornets sweep Chicago State in all 3 games in the Windy City in front of a grand total of 180 fans total for the series. YIKES, the Sac State home attendance is rocking big compared to Chicago State. Good for the Hornets to build their WAC record and work towards getting into the WAC tourney. The season has not worked out so far as predicted but plenty of time to get things better.

Beat Davis!!!

Hornets get a much needed sweep in a domination of Chi State.

Fri: 7-2 win
Sat: 8-1 win
Sun: 9-2 win

The Hornets final weekday game will be Tuesday night at Raley Field against the dungpilers.

Hornets beat Davis 7-1 tonight to win number 26 on the season. Games this weekend slated to be played in rainy Greeley , Colorado have been moved to 6,000 J Street in sunny CA. How bout that news Hornet fans? Another typical win over Davis and the last 6 WAC games now at home as the Hornets surge towards the WAC tourney. So sweet when good fortune and good play go the Sac State way. Let's move up the standings past UNC and take on league leading Grand Canyon. Should be interesting how things turn out with now six huge home games left. Let's keep this 4 game win streak going!!

Great game last night. Christiansen and the Hornets continue their domination of the dunpilers on the diamond and are now 10 of the last 11 against them with last nights 7-1 win.

Katz got it started off right with a strike on the ceremonial first pitch. Stassi gave up a run in the 1st (leadoff walks kill) but then he and the bullpen was lights out the rest of the night. The dungpilers only got a man into scoring position one other time during the game. Lukes tied the Hornet career hits record with a 2 run HR in the 4th.
Nothing but WAC play left, and it's all at home. UNC has been playing well the past few weeks and GCU is atop the WAC standings. Should be a tough ending heading into the WACT.
