2015 BSC Tourney!

Cats meow!

Disappointing with all the talk of the location of the 2015 BSC Tourney that it looks like Weber State is projected to NOT make the tournament. Has any team ever fallen from preseason BSC favorite to not making the tourney ?

Maybe it's the eternal optimist in me, but I feel like the Cats will still make it in to the tournament at the 7 or 8 seed

7th seed? I don't see it. 8th? I'm not seeing that either after looking at the remaining games and the situation they're in. Frankly, it will surprise me if they win more than 1 game the rest of the way. Regardless, I'd really like to see the right players on the floor together and show signs of improvement-- yes, this includes Hunter and Hajek. Hajek is not here next season but it would be nice for him to help Rahe see what changes need to be made.

You're right! Hunter, with another year of experience and a talented Big will be awesome for Weber. The only problem is that Rahe is stubborn and will fight doing anything that is counter to what he planned previously. He's horrible at making adjustments. I really like a line up of Hunter at point, Senglin at SG, Hill or Gittens at SF, Bolomboy at PF and Braxton or the Freshman big coming in at Center. Hunter is a pass first PG and will make everyone around him better. Gittens, Hill, Richardson and Golden would be awesome off the bench. What a strong line up with great depth.

We all know it won't happen. Rahe will go out with Senglin, Gittens, Golden, Hill and Bolomboy next year. He wants to prove that he has the right plan. My opinion is that this is a bad lineup...... Reinforced that opinion after watching Golden struggle last night. I thought Boloboy really enjoyed having Hajek on the court witht him. Didn't understand why rebounding was so poor, but I thought it really helped Bolomboy's offensive game.

Just my opinion......... Rahe will stick to his plan, but I'm not sure he'll survive if Weber has another poor season. His compensation is double that of other coaches in the BSC. Missing the tourney with that comp plan is unacceptable.

Everything from now on should be invested in the team preparing for next season. Getting into the tourny would be a bonus for the team and program. Any wins from this time forward are going to be somewhat miraculous, but I think the Cats can get a couple; enough to get into the tournament. As for next season...you can tell who coach has the most faith in. Hill played 39mins, whereas Golden only played 14 and that's after losing Senglin. Once Richardson is back I bet his time will be cut even more. Not saying he is gone but we know the coaches are looking for another 2. I thought maybe a stretch 4, but... I just don't know, but there will be changes. Right now we have more players than scholarships.

Two guards and a wing (Jeremiah Jefferson, McKay Cannon, and Juwan Williams) will be available next season. Three bigs, a center Zach Braxton, PF/C Jordan Dallas, and PF Emmanuel Nzekwesi, will also be available. Weber is losing 1 guy; James Hajek. Where are all the scholarships? I bet that this kid from Saddleback JC ends up at Weber, Dusty Baker? So who else walks?

I doubt Weber makes the tourny.

Weber won't make the tourney, but have the talent to be more than a contender next year. The question is will Rahe let them. I agree, he's stubborn. I like our chances next year, the question mark is Rahe. Bolomboy is not a 5.....

Agreed. Part of Golden's lack of minutes resulted from foul trouble. However, most had to do with his ineffectiveness. Of course there are going to be some major changes. You can't have a year like we are having and not expect that. Do I expect changes in the core of our program? No. I'm not expecting any major coaching changes. We have the right guys in place to get the job done.

No mater what the circumstances, the guys are going to give a full effort to win every game, this year and next. What happens after this season is over, will happen. Next year, I fully expect that the ship will be righted. At WSU, we fans have come to expect nothing less.

Again, maybe I'm crazy, but I think Wildcats could get in with wins against MSU and ISU, and then it just comes down to the game against Idaho.

I agree..... It comes down to Idaho! Also great time to see how Hayden Hunter handles the point. I like the way he distributes the ball and what he brings to the court! He needs to shoot, but that'll come with experience.

I can't get over how Bolomboy flourished at the 4. Career high and seemed more in control! Rahe had to notice that right! I've been wrong in my criticism of Joel, kid has just been playing out of position. In fact, it now looks like Senglin, Bolomboy and maybe even a Hill have been playing out of position. Rahe might of tinkered a little to much this season. Bringing in the JUCO kids didn't bring much to the table. Moving Joel to 5 hurt Weber and Joel.

I think Gittens is a great spark plug off the bench....... Looking to next year, a front court of a big, Bolomboy and Hill would be imposing on defense and offense. I'd like to see Hunter at PG and Senglin at SG. That creates lots of talent coming off the bench. Rahe has got to quit running his players down and trust a strong bench to produce. Develop a next man up mentality for next year instead of Crying over injuries.

The last 2 big sky tournaments weber didn't make were 2006 and 1982. I think we have only missed the 2. Started in 1976.
Wow! I didn't realize it's only been twice! I still think they have a good chance to get in, but might have to steal a win or two. There's quite a few teams that are having down years...., two NCAA final four teams from last year including the champion won't make the dance this year! It happens, it's all about how you recover!

Interesting also that right/shortly after there was coaching changes, bye bye to McCarthy & then Cravens?? :yikes:
No, calm down fellow Rahe fans, I'm not suggesting anything...but might do so if next year shows little progress. Saying (1)Wildcats are in 8th place, right ahead of SUU (both with 8 conf losses), so just might make the tourney...and...(2)Coach Rahe has to do some reflecting this off year on a what turned out to be a very disappointing season! Yes, it's all about how you RECOVER! :twocents:

NO DOUBT! The Cats will be hungry next year and it will be pay back time. There might be a change in players, but I'm confident that they will have a very different attitude next year!

I've resigned myself to the fact that this year is one to forget! It's hard to talk about IF Weber makes the tourney after so many years of contending for the Championship. I think we'll get in and show some fight, but I was encourage with the line ups Rahe deployed against NAU. Our guard play was horrible, but Hunter has huge upside and it was great to see Bolomboy in his right position.

This could be a major year for the future of the program, the question will be how does Rahe react?

My personal opinion is that our coaches will react well to this adversity. Every year they have looked for innovations and new strategies to improve our program. It may not seem like it to many of you, but they have implemented new strategies every year since they have been here. They are always looking for ways to improve their performance and the teams performance on the court. Some of the things they have implemented have worked out better than others, but they are always looking to get better.

I also feel that our players will respond well after having their arses handed to them regularly this season. They all know, exactly, what it takes to fail. That experience should give them a clear picture of what it will take to be successful. It should be an interesting off season. I fully expect our core players to come back extremely focused and conditioned.

We are bound to be nearly as young as this year, more experience, yes but young. We should all be prepared for some ups and downs. Hopefully more ups.

I know this is going to really suck to admit, but I'm beginning to think that Montana will be hosting the tournament.

Sac will probably lose 3 out of the next 5. Teams are figuring out how to beat them. Take either Garrity or Mckinney out of the game and you have a great chance of beating the Hornets. They have the toughest road to winning the Sky with 2 of their last 5 at home. Granted, they have SUU, PSU, and NAU on the road. I've got my fingers crossed for them, but it isn't looking good.

For whatever reason, I think Eastern will split the next three weeks and go .500. If they win 4 out of 6 they probably tie with Montana. In that scenario I think UM wins the hosting rights.

In all likelihood Montana wins 4 of the next 5. Yes, they also have 3 out of their last 5 on the road, but they don't really have to worry about travel to Eastern and Idaho, since both are fairly close to Missoula, and then they get MSU to end the season. This week ISU and our Weber State Wildcats. If Weber beats Montana on their floor then maybe Eastern ends up on top.

Because their coach is a good guy, their teams have struggled, and it is interesting to see them struggle to find a suitable venue. It also might force their hand in building a new arena. Eastern... meh. Montana... meh.

Looks like if SAC ST ends up in first & hosts tourney, it has been worked out to hold it on campus at "The WELL", a recreation center where some 3,000 seats will be set up with a portable court. Received the OK from the conference to prepare in case... http://www.bigskyconf.com/news/2015/2/20/MBB_0220153655.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Hope the "Well" has a better floor and seating that another well used activity center, that being the Rolle Center at NAU. When the Dome was being remodeled, the games were played there. I heard Coach Rahe say it was the single worst floor in the conference, slippery, no give and many dead spots.

Just sayin...
