2015 Game Promos

I like some of the ideas. The a.d., is trying to get buts back into the seats at Nottingham. The best way to do that is obviously to win the damn games! Any who....here are some of the new events.

- Against Western State before the opener there will be brewfests, and local eateries at the fan fest.

- Against Eastern Washington there is Ag/Oil Industry Day. Discounted prices for those who work on the industry.

- Hispanic Heritage Day. Again, not a bad idea. Reach out to the community.

Here's the link to the website that explains each event further.

One of the best promo's I've seen is at Portland State for their basketball games. It would work equally well for the football fans I would think. What they did to get more people at their games is to offer free all you can eat food at their snack bar. They have hot dogs, pizza, popcorn and nachos plus free soda. They charge a few dollars extra for the tickets, but they have been filling their gym. For the football fans, I think just offering one free item plus a drink with each ticket would be a good start. Punch the ticket so they keep the number of food items to one per ticket. If Coors would chip in as a sponsor they could offer one free beer to adults. I'm sure Coke or Pepsi would help with the sodas and maybe one of the grocers would provide the food items.

But in the end, you just have to have a good team that people feel good about.

The Washington Nationals have $1 Hot Dog nights quite a few times a season and that seems to go over well.

The Taste of Greeley thing sounds pretty cool.

Your last line is the kicker ! I hate to be a pessimistic downer but just not feelin good about this coaching regime. I have exhausted my enthusiasm for Coach Collins. Is 5 years asking too much ? But getting back to the "promotion" ideas, I think the food /drink options would be a big help once we make some other changes.

I understand your feelings about Collins. In fact I just had a conversation with a player this morning about Collins. He said "I can't stand the f_____g asshole." And he said that virtually ALL the players feel that way. Just amazing what is going on. I told him that dealing with the adversity will make him stronger.
This is a great example of a good position coach and/or coordinator who was not ready to be a HC. Has anybody dared to compare the W/L record of UNC with Alcorn State. After Collins left Alcorn, they have a 4-year record of 25-21, while UNC (with Collins) has a record of 9-36. What exactly did Norton see in Collins (other than a cheap hire)? His 2-year record at Alcorn was only 8-12. He has hired an O-Coordinator who has not had a winning season in 7 years and a strength & conditioning coach who is the ONLY S&C coach in the Big Sky who not either CSCS (certified strength & conditioning specialist) or has a masters from CSCCa (Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association). Just amazing!

All the promos in the world won't matter until the product on the field is worth the price of admission. Hell it is already free for the students and they rarely make the effort to attend.

You must be Zach Bigelow. I gotcha! Has the player you're referring to ever consider transferring to another school? He should if he's not willing to play for coach Collins.

"Awfully quiet around here. We only have a few weeks until spring camp begins! I know, there's little to be optimistic about. For one, we have a megalomaniac, racist, head coach. He is despised by everyone around him. Has Chip lost his job already? He certainly has lost this team. They no longer believe in him. Any reason to be optimistic? I know this Bears fan isn't even looking forward to spring football for the first time in a long, long, time."

I know about 5 players on the team currently, all dont like Collins. Know another 5 who graduated last year who played, all hate him as well. It is what it is, no need to get all defensive about it. Most of the kids like Colorado, like the school and like Greeley. If you are on schloarship , why would you transfer? Everyone at this point is just hoping for his firing this next season. Did you see what happened with the firing of Shaw and then how the players responsed, you will see that sometime this year. Mark my word. GO bears!!!!

At this point, questioning how this coach got hired is a waste of time. The issues surrounding his time here (as a coach) have been throughly discussed, at least by the normal people in the UNC community.
So what if they win a game or two.....good for our program and the players who make it happen.
At this point, hoping to see a change in mr. Collins is like attempting to teach a pig to whistle. ....it frustrates us and annoys the pig.
The field promos have some merit, and may help boost attendance. Some people attend minor league baseball games in the hope they'll win a free hat or tee shirt. Give aways between quarters (with the best stuff given away in the last quarter) may help keep people in the stands longer. It would take a bit of hustle at this point, my that may make for a nice project for a group of marketing majors. With a little creativity it can be accomplished.

I agree with everything you say, EXCEPT the pig analogy. I believe that it was a bad choice of words. I still believe Coach Collins should be fired, but the pig thing can be taken as some sort of sick intimation.
Has anybody read any of the posts on the other teams sites? What a difference. Our site is fragmented, critical and cynical. The other sites are much more optimistic and positive.

Thanks for your input coach Bigelow. Hope all is well in Corvallis!

My sincere apologies if the pig whistling was at all offensive. My intent was and is to illuminate the waste of time and energy that many (including myself) have lost in discussions regarding decisions made that are out of our hands. Please accept my humble (and sincere) apology.
I do believe that a number of well placed game time promos may help put people in the stands and provide an opportunity for involvement/ownership in events rather than just games.

Sure am getting sick of people on this board calling people out and unjustly tarnishing the names of others. Anybody who has ever known Bigelow well enough to have the right to call him out knows that it is outside of his nature as a person and as a professional to speak poorly of others.

Seriously? It's the nature of message boards. We have former players/parents coming on this board all the time personally attacking the football the coaching staff...yet they're hiding behind screen names. Is that okay? If I offended coach Bigelow, my apologies.
