KURESA SIGNS WITH PORTLAND STATE

After a very good sophomore season, Snow QB Alex Kuresa (6-2, 200) was hoping to find a place to play this fall and, earlier this weekend, the talented signal-caller decided to sign with Portland State and he will enroll there this summer...

Kuresa completed 62.7% for 2,374 yards with 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions this past season while leading the Badgers to an 8-2 record.

Kuresa is also a very good runner as well and he led Snow with 592 yards rushing and finished second on the team with eight scores.

The gifted signal-caller will have three years to play two starting this fall.

Too bad he can't be in PDX this spring. A few snaps would give him a jump on the fall camp. Based on what I've seen, With Kieran and Paris, I'd have to say I give an edge to a guy with a proven ability to complete passes and win games.

Kuresa sounds like a solid addition. We will have a great QB competition this year and the team will be better for it whatever the outcome. Barnum is off to a good start.

Now I see why he left BYU...they wanted him to play wide out. He wants to play QB. My guess is he'll come in hungry to prove he can play.

So it should be McDonagh vs Penn vs Kraght vs Kuresa vs Wilder with a couple of true freshman?

Should be a good spring to watch.

Yes, and I believe some larger schools were recruiting him out of Snow JC to play another position (my guess as either as a DB or WR), but PSU is giving him a chance at QB. Looks to be a turbocharged version of Connor Kavanaugh. Roll Viks!

Exactly what I meant. This competition should lift the whole team. I like the film on Kuresa. I hope Penn is healthy and that Kieran and Kracht improve in the off season.

Could Alex Kuresa be OUR Vernon Adams?

Backup Duck DB Issac Dixon to transfer elsewhere

Yep, more FBS roster attrition.

The latest to watch as a player flees its football program is Oregon, with the school confirming Thursday that Issac Dixon (pictured, No. 5) has decided to take his leave of the Ducks. According to 247Sports.com, the defensive back is on track to graduate this spring and, thus, would be eligible to play immediately if he moves on to another FBS team.

Staying at the FBS level doesn’t appear to be on his radar at the moment, however, as the same recruiting website, citing the player’s Facebook page, reports that Dixon will be visiting FCS Portland State this weekend.

Dixon, a three-star member of the Ducks’ 2011 recruiting class, played in a total of 16 games the past three seasons after redshirting as a true freshman. Just two of those games played, though, came in 2014, which likely played a role in his decision to leave.

One thing I'm going to miss with Riley leaving Oregon State was that he would ask players looking to transfer from the Beavers to consider Portland State as a possible destination. With Dixon coming to look at us, maybe Helfridge is doing the same thing. Any advantage we can get before Montana and EWU get to them has to be a good thing.

Another possible transfer? Interesting story, I believe PSU offered him out of hs:

Kevin Love returns to Cavs ... another Adelman will coach Lincoln basketball ... Kasey Closs makes Jags ... Connor Griffin leaves Gonzaga

• Former Lake Oswego basketball/football standout Connor Griffin, who has been a member of the Gonzaga basketball team the past two years, is transferring from the Spokane school to play football.

The 6-4, 210-pound Griffin made the Bulldogs as a walk-on freshman and played on the varsity the past two years. He had nine points and eight rebounds in 14 games as a reserve small forward on the team that reached the Elite Eight this winter.

"I have more potential in football and missed the game," says Griffin, a first-team all-state wide receiver for the Lakers with 36 receptions for 919 yards and 14 TDs as senior. "I knew at some point I was going to play college football. I didn't know if it was going to be for just one year after I was through with basketball, or more."

Griffin says it was a difficult decision to leave Gonzaga, "especially after going to the Elite Eight."

"We lost four guys and I was going to be fighting for more playing time," he says. "But in the end, I had to listen to my heart and pursue football. I owed it to myself to explore my options and see what else was out there."

Portland State has offered a scholarship. Montana has offered some financial help, and Washington says it will take Griffin as a preferred walk-on.

"I want to find out more about each program and how legit they are about using me," says Griffin, who retains three seasons of football eligibility. "I've talked with Portland State coaches and will take visits to Montana and Washington before I decide."
