Half-glass full analysis? Why should any Weber State fan be cautiously optimistic about the 2015 season?
1. Competitive in every game last season. Turnovers, injuries, and finishing games killed the Cats. Weber has added depth, a team that understands the system, and far more confidence.
2. A number of key starters and lettermen return this season who have vast experience and talent.
3. Another really strong and deep recruiting class.
4. Highly favorable schedule. Yes, road games in Missoula and Cheney aren't the greatest, but Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona are both winnable games on the road and the home schedule looks great with SUU, UND, UC-Davis, and ISU visiting. I think the only way Weber can beat ISU is playing the Bengals at home, late November, outside a dome. A freak weather event could only help. Could happen again, like 2013.
5. having Sac at home and knowing that Sac is virtually rebuilding is a great indication to getting the team an early home win and a little revenge for our loss in Sac last year. One of the many games we practically gifted wrapped with TOs and Flags.
I'm thinking that the Cats aren't necessarily a playoff team, but will play spoiler in 2015. If teams think they are going to get the Cats to roll over like 2013, they've got another thing coming. 2014 showed the Sky that Weber is dangerous and can beat anyone at anytime. Unfortunately, too many miscues happened each week which kept Weber out the win column till week 11. Spotting teams 14 points before scoring didn't help matters either; yet, each game was competitive. I feel the team will take that next step and will be able to finish out games.
To be honest, there is a lot to be excited about at Weber State. Our team will definitely turn some eyes this season. Big Sky best get ready cause a whirl-wind is coming.
