2015 Schedule

The BSC slate was announced a couple years back. We have a money game at UDub which as of now they have listed in week 2. The Weber board says we are playing there in week 3. That leaves one game left to fill in either week 1 or week 8.

Week 1 – 9/5/15 - OPEN
Week 2 – 9/12/15 - @ Washington
Week 3 – 9/19/15 - @ Weber State
Week 4 – 9/26/15 – vs Eastern Washington*
Week 5 – 10/3/15 – vs Northern Colorado*
Week 6 – 10/10/15 - @ Montana State*
Week 7 – 10/17/15 - @ Southern Utah*
Week 8 – 10/24/15 - OPEN
Week 9 – 10/31/15 – vs Idaho State*
Week 10 – 11/7/15 - @ Cal Poly*
Week 11 – 11/14/15 - @ Northern Arizona*
Week 12 – 11/21/15 – vs the farm extension*
*BSC Game

I hope we can land another FCS opponent for a full D1 slate, but since we need a home game we might have to buy one from a D2/NAIA opponent. A much tougher schedule than 2014, but plenty of winnable games. Having the bye in week 8 would probably be the preferable spot. My guess is UNC will be homecoming, and we get the shaft with a Halloween weekend home game meaning that will be the lowest attended game of the season.

Fresno State has us listed for the ‘16 season. Incarnate Word owes us a return game since we went there last year but per their website they aren’t making the return trip until the ’17 season. UDub again in ’20.

I heard somewhere that we have Eastern Oregon for 9/5

I see 7 D-I wins, but that's counting ISU. Clearly, THAT is not a given. Washington is a POSSIBLE win, but decidedly not PROBABLE. I would have preferred Wazzu or Colorado again. Actually, Idaho, UNLV, SJSU, would have been a pretty good game to get FBS cred combined with a likely win. If we want to go a bit farther afield, SMU would have been a great game for getting a cheap win with FBS credit. Why take an auto-loss for a big payday?

That's true, OH.

I see only two GUARANTEED wins on that schedule (BBQ and UNC). But given the position on the schedule, NAU's usual swoon works in our favor.

The Hornets need to Win the games they are suppose to win. Just like this season. Improve and win a couple you are not suppose to and boom playoffs. Hornets are 1 min away of being in playoffs this year. Win MSU game and hornets are in not montana state

Given what just happened in the draw for the WVB tournament, that's not a given. The Pac-12 got TEN teams in, including 15-15 U$C, and a 19-win Seton Hall team got in, but the second-place team in the WCC (23-7) was snubbed, though the third and fourth teams got in (WCC #2 swept #4 and had a higher RPI than Seton Hall).

Weird things happen when committees get together to choose who gets in a tournament....

5-6 wins max!

I'm with Kadeezy. I see next year being a rough one with possibly only a couple wins. Sac loses two of the greatest players/team leaders in school history, it'll be the second year of a new coach (likely), which for some reason always seems to equal a dip as the team transitions players (see Davis in 2014)...and the schedule looks pretty tough to me. I'm thinking three wins.

I agree with PH to a certain extent. The Hornets graduate the best QB-WR tandem in Hornet history and that alone will be a massive void to fill. However a lot of talent returns. Agude had a breakout year at WR; we had TWO 1,000 yard WRs and we get one back. Robinson has proven to be a complete stud at RB along with the others that complimented him (Coleman and Warren). We return 3 of 5 starting OL along with some coming back from injury and others getting key experience filling in. Biggest question mark will be at QB but I’m not overly concerned so long as Peterson sticks around. He did just develop a walk on into the best QB in Hornet history. A lot of Safron’s success had to do with the style of offense the Hornets run. Any capable QB should be able to hit those sub-15 yard routes and allow the offense to move the ball.

Defensively we lose some key players, but return quite a bit. The defense struggled so no telling how that unit will respond with some new players coming into the program as well as some of the underclassmen getting an opportunity to play. Sankey was an absolute stud and will be amazing again once healthy and other LBs (Smith and Meteer) will return along side him. The DBs seemed to improve in the last few games and 3 of 5 starters return there. We lose both starting DEs so some of the underclassmen (Johnson, Sorensen, Ussery) will get a chance to prove themselves. Some size at DL returns (Nonu, Mazza, Tuliaupupu) so the biggest need there will be bringing in some depth.

Special teams returns Cornish (who had an outstanding year) and return specialist Hennie. LS Latham also returns so the only void to fill will be at punter.

There is plenty to look forward to next season and there is plenty of talent on the returning roster to just write off next season. We’ll see how the offseason shakes out and go from there.

Kniffin had already used his RS year, and McDade was on the roster too. Vercher started the season injured and unless they needed a fourth QB, the best choice was to let him RS I'm guessing. Not saying he's a lock or anything, but I'm sure the competition will be open...

I talked to a Cal Poly coach that was really high on Vercher coming out of high school. Cal Poly did not have a scholarship available for a QB that year, but Vercher was his choice if they had one.

Not saying he is the guy either, but he sure had a great recruiting video though I would like to see them bring in a FBS dropdown (big hint UAB pulled a UOP today)

SH UOP did get mentioned in the articles i read around the web( as the last team to pull the plug on FB)

That is my guess as to what happens. Kniffin looked the best in fall camp of that group but that was a long time ago and no one saw significant time during the season. Open it up to open competition and let the best QB claim the role. Peterson has a spring camp, offseason workouts, and fall camp to see who is best suited for the starting role.
