And an NAIA school... can't forget losing to Longingwood or whatever the hell that school was I hadn't heard of before or since...

Glad the CSU game is on there, only a small travel expense plus a paycheck out of it.

Anyone on this board embarrassed that UNC, nominally a DI, is still playing NAIA schools? The third time in Collins' tenure? Have we reached the point that DII schools are so scary we don't schedule them so we can have a win? How will a game like that make our program better? I understand the home and away game with that dreadful Abilene Christian team but Rocky Mountain College? Seriously?

I agree. I too am embarrassed. I just want to shake my head at the lame decisions that are continually being made regarding this program. Its down right sad ! Dammit !

A win with this type of competition can't make anyone feel good. Why would anyone even want to pay to see this? If they wanted to see how the team would do against someone they should have invited them over for a joint practice and have a scrimmage or do a 7 on 7 passing practice with them. At least with a DII team we know they sometimes beat us and it makes it somewhat interesting. If nothing else it should be considered an exhibition game and not count in team standings.

Budbear.....
Ditto.
But remember. ....it's all in the spin .....it's all in the spin.
I also like the CSU game. If my memory serves me right, they wore the old orange Aggies jerseys and the stadium atmosphere was awesome.

......Psst Hey guys you wanna know why there's a NAIA team on the schedule? It's so Collins try claim a another 6-5 season with the weakest sechdule in all of the FCS....... Shhh it's a secret......

Us playing an NAIA team is no different than Nebraska playing UNC. It's supposed to earn money for the smaller team and be a warm up game for the bigger side. Nothing new (except we seem to lose these games).

The same as Nebraska playing UNC, would be UNC playing mines or CMU. Collins likes to put this games on the schedule because they artificially inflate his record it's rediclous

Exactly, it's no different than Sac State playing Menlo College, Southern Utah playing Brevard College or Montana State playing first-year program East Tennessee State. A tune-up game is a tune-up game, regardless of the specific opponent.

I'm not arguing that there shouldn't be a tune up game. They were great to get the team in sync and on the same page. But come on! Make one against a D2 team not NAIA!

Gessh...yes we know you hate the man. However, to say that this is just to inflate his record is a bit much. He may not have had any say in the matter. Dunn is probably the primary person who schedules. Look around the FCS and I would say almost half have an NAIA or D2 team scheduled.

If the sun didn't rise tomorrow you would blame it on Collins. :ohno: :ohno:

Yes, I do hate Collins. I will fully admit to it. I would change my feelings for him, if he could actually do the job of coaching UNC football into a legit contender. He has consistently thrown players under the bus when it doesn't go his way, instead of taking responsibility. I feel that he can't coach at this level and UNC needs to go find somone who can.

Going back to the schedule, you really think Collins didn't have input into the schedule? and with your point on half NAIA and D2. It's much more weighted on the D2 side.

If you believe that the team has made a turning point wouldn't you want a better team for a tune up game to really test your team so see where you need to make changes?

Here if UNC posts a .500+ record next year i will never say a disparaging thing about Collins/this coaching staff again.

You shouldn't go through life with so much hate towards someone. Hopefully you can let go some day.

The past has proved that it is possible to play down to almost any level. I think this is a pretty good schedule actually, and it has not been more than a few years that the "horrible" Abilene Christian team was near the top in
D-2, plenty good enough to embarrass an overconfident and over inflated FCS squad (remember Chadron State).

The game in Ft Collins should be something players and coaches are thinking about right now, this is a great opportunity. I had the pleasure of playing in one of those in 1977.

Rocky Mountain College is a private Methodist school in Billings, Mt. They play in the Frontier conference and have a small fraction of a budget that UNC has. They are interviewing up there next week for a new HC. Yes, it should be considered a practice game, there is nothing to win here and everything to lose. If I was going to play/coach against that team, I would take it even more seriously than playing at CSU.

I know its early to start talking about it, but does anyone have any predictions for the 2016 season. I already mentioned that I predicted an 8-3 record last year, and if not for a last second FG by EWU, I would have been just one win away. Here is my 2016 prediction of a much tougher schedule:
2-9
Rocky Mtn. - WIN
Abilene Christian - LOSS
CSU - LOSS
NAU - LOSS
EWU - LOSS
UC Davis - WIN
Sac St - LOSS
Portland St - LOSS
UND - LOSS
MONTANA - LOSS
Cal Poly - LOSS
Notes:
The Abilene Christian game will be pivotal. In the 2015 game, ACU made 11 more 1st downs, over 19 more minutes of possession, outgained us in yards, and is returning just about everybody. If we win, then I predict a 4-7 season.
