George Dancer from Beyer High in Modesto has given Sac St a verbal commitment to accept the scholarship that has been offered to him. He is a pretty darn good player....I've seen him a few times and he looks to be a well balanced player (can shoot, drive, pass, handle and rebound + he looks for his teammates first). I'm happy with this young man coming to the Hornets. Congratulations Georgie, welcome to Sac St.

Modesto Bee article on Dancer's verbal:
With a verbal commitment on Monday, senior Georgie Dancer is believed to be the first boys basketball player in school history to accept a full-ride scholarship to a Division I program.

A verbal commitment isn’t binding. At any time, a player or school can choose to go in another direction.

However, Dancer has no plans of leaving the hive, though he has received interest from Montana, Montana State and Chico State. His heart belongs to Sacramento State, a program that reached historical highs under coach Brian Katz last season.
“It’s 100 percent where I’m going,” said Dancer, an All-District second-team selection last season.

Another great article on the young recruit, George Dancer. It seems like Coach Katz and the Hornets family got a good one! :thumb:

Per Hornetsports, Dancer is official.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Sacramento State head men's basketball coach Brian Katz announced the program has inked Beyer High School guard George Dancer during the early signing period. Dancer will enroll at the University as a freshman next fall.

Of the Hornets' last eight signees spanning the last two years, all eight have been incoming freshmen.

In the picture of Dancer doing an up-and-under, I believe it is Jeff Wu on his back trying to guard him....Dancer is a good get....very under the radar guy who would of been recruited hard by the end of this season....

I see where George Dancer has started his season with a bang. Beyer High is 4-0 and George has gone for 32 pts in one game and 42 pts with 6 three point baskets in another..looks like he can fill it up...going to try and go see him live again very soon....

Sac has offered Chibueze Jacobs, a 6' 5" SF from Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks....he was named the Southern Cal 4AA Co-Player of the Year...averaged 19 pts and 9 rebs a game in a conference that produced 2 State Champions (Crespi in D1 and Harvard-Westlake in D4)...that must have been a killer tough conference...Chibueze's older brother Leon plays football at Wisconsin (inside linebacker)...sure hope we sign this kid....

Jacobs has good size and shot 47% from 3 which is a huge need for this team next season. He doesn't have a junior season listed, injury?

It looks like Jacobs has committed to the Hornets..

With Jacobs and Dancer it looks like we got some outside shooting. Jacobs looks very athletic and is not bashful about taking the ball strong to the hoop.

That is fantastic...he played in arguably, the toughest conference in California...being named the 4A co-player of the year, when your team only goes 6-6 in conference, tells me he must be really impressive...now just have to sweat the days until he can officially sign....I've been told he is much bigger than 170 lbs..more like 200...

Jacobs is official per Hornetsports:
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Sacramento State head men's basketball coach Brian Katz announced the signing of Notre Dame High School (Sherman Oaks, Calif.) guard/forward Chibueze Jacobs to a National Letter of Intent today.
The versatile Jacobs played all five positions on the floor for Notre Dame HS head coach Vince Oliver, and would guard the opponent's best player whether that player was a guard or a post.

As a senior and the team captain, Jacobs led the Knights to the CIF Southern Section Div. 4AA championship game and a second round appearance in the state tournament. Jacobs was named the 4AA Co-Player of the Year, first team all-section, first team all-area and first team all-Mission League after averaging 24.2 points and 12.1 rebounds per game while shooting .570 from the field, .469 from the 3-point line and .800 from the free throw line. In fact, it was Jacobs' pullup 15-foot jumper with 3.5 seconds remaining that defeated Harvard-Westlake High School, 56-54, in the section semifinals. In that game, he finished with 30 points and 13 rebounds.
Sounds like a good get. Looking forward to seeing him in action in the Nest next season.

Jacobs appears to be a real good player and I'm happy we signed him...I also see that Mason Stuteville will be transferring to Hawaii Pacific....then I see where Matt Battaglia from Oak Ridge has committed to the Hornets...don't know if he is taking Stuteville's scholly or if he is a walk-on...if he is a walk-on it means we still have an open scholly...could be some more surprises coming....

Jacobs looks like another guy to add to the mix with tremendous length.

Would like to see them look at adding another guard that can handle the ball, don't have a ton of depth at the position right now. If Dancer can come back from his injury and is ready to play from the get go I guess it wouldn't be quite as big of a concern.

Georgie told me he is red-shirting next year to get fully recovered from the surgery....as far as I know, there is still one scholly open (Mason Stuteville's transfer)....I tend to agree with you mattman...can never have too many ball handlers or shooters....

Welcome to Sac State Izayah.

Looking forward to you being a Hornet and all your fans in New Zealand following Hornet basketball.

And perhaps the Sac State basketball team can make a pre season trip over seas to New Zealand during your years at Sac State. Believe Div I teams are allowed an overseas trip every three or four years . That would be great.

All that being said, welcome again and know that everyone at Sac State is thrilled that you are a Hornet!!!! And thanks for selecting Sac State as your college of choice among so many other choices. You will love it here.

I'm sure they had probably been working on this for a while, but man was that out of left field, definitely not out of the recent recruiting playbook. I'll try to contain my excitement because he looks like a good player, but we will have to wait and see how things work out. The prospect of him running PNR with Strings is exciting. We badly needed a point guard and I think we got one.
