WILDCAT

According to the Ask the AD December edition our 2017 football schedule has finally been finalized, and it starts with a Sept 2nd home game vs NAIA Montana Western.

Not the game I was hoping for but with as hard as it is to get non Big Sky teams to travel to Ogden its not surprising. Our Conference schedule is gonna be brutal next season.

Sat, Sep 02 Montana Western Ogden

Sat, Sep 09 at California Berkeley, CA

Sat, Sep 16 at Sacramento State Sacramento, CA

Sat, Sep 23 UC Davis * Ogden

Sat, Sep 30 at Montana State * Bozeman, MT

Sat, Oct 14 Southern Utah * Ogden

Sat, Oct 21 at Cal Poly * San Luis Obispo, CA

Sat, Oct 28 Montana * Ogden

Sat, Nov 04 at Eastern Washington * Cheney, WA

Sat, Nov 11 at Portland State * Portland, OR

Sat, Nov 18 Idaho State * Ogden

* Conference Games

Am I thinking correctly that the 2nd game is Cal of the Pac 12?? In other words, the payday game, a game that if the Wildcats win, it's much more than a positive start for a change...close to a miracle start, I'd say.

I know the 1st game will satisfy those who want the team to get a good scrimmage in before playing Div I. Myself, I don't like it & it can really hurt if the Wildcats barely qualify at the end of the regular season for the playoffs. Has not worked for Idaho St 2 yrs ago & hurt whatever chances No. Colorado had this year. There's little interest in it, so Bovee might as well set it up as a free one at Stewart Stadium & not charge the season ticket holders either!!

Would rather a BSC team that isn't on the conference schedule. :twocents:

Yeah, that's the problem with the D2 game. We start with 2 games that guaranteed will not help us make the playoffs.

I guess it's not that much different than the years we started off with two FBS schools though.

We probably just could not get anything else for a home game, and didn't want to have only 4 home games. I don't know all the particulars in the negotiations for a HnH contract with another FCS club, but I have heard that everything, within reason, was done to get a deal in place. In the end, we got a D2 game. Think of it like an exhibition game, a warm up for Cal. They may have been able to get another money game, but that would leave us with just 4 home games. :coffee:
