According to the latest ask the ad for March. (Link Below) It has been confirmed that Weber will host UVU, BYU and Fresno State in this coming season. It is also discovered that Weber will be participating in a tournament in the Bahamas. They also discuss the fact that they liked the idea of buying guarantee games and will continue to look into that. They also bring up (slightly) playing lower division teams and are how many in a season is the right amount.

So what we know so far about the schedule for next season.

HOME
Utah Valley
BYU
Fresno State

AWAY

NUETRAL
San Jose State, Central Michigan and Cal St Bakersfield - Bahamas Junkanoo Jam
Utah State - Beehive Classic

For the time being, there is no reason that we cant get H/H every year with BYU. They are in the WCC (for now), and that leave is on par with the BSC. Maybe they are seeing that too? Will we get USU at Logan this year maybe? We have played them twice in a season before, due to the Alaskan tournament years ago.

I hope that we get one or two P-5 schools on the schedule. When was the last time we beat a P-5 school? Our last win vs a Pac-12 school was Utah in like 2011 or 2012. I am okay with buying home games, but it has to be better than Ark. Pine Bluff.

Any chance that Utah will schedule us? Doubt it, but I would like a crack at them.

From what I remember with BYU is that this season will end a 3 year contract, that did not include the Beehive Classic game played last year. I might be wrong, but Randy decided not to have BYU come to Ogden last year, since we were playing them in the classic, or maybe both coaches decided one game against each other was enough for the season. I don't know, however, I do know that this game will conclude the three year contract, which had Weber play one game in Salt Lake, another in Provo and the final game in Ogden (The Cats got two games in Salt Lake against the Cougars). It is almost like a 2 for 1, since the Salt Lake game was virtually a home game for the Y. That might be the norm going forward with BYU. H/H contracts, with a 2 for 1 thrown in ever so often. Yet, I'm still grateful that they will, at least, still come to Ogden ever so often.

USU...well, like fan, I'm guessing that Weber might end up playing in Lolgan this Fall, as well as playing the Aggies in Salt Lake. I'm not against that, if it happens. But a lot of that will depend on who is hired to take over the reignless program. I'm hoping that the new coach in Logan decides to maintain the H/H's with Weber in the future, but then again, he might not. I'm sure that the USU administration will lean toward the new coach maintaining the instate rivalry. Who knows...strange things happen all the time and the new coach could decide to go a different direction. I really hope that does not happen. And with Fresno State, it is the second game in a 2 for 1 series.

I don't care who the administration is able to buy. We have to remember this is Weber State and that our athletic budget is $14.5M on a good year. Yes, if the Cats can get two money games then some of that could be used to buy a guarantee game for the Cats. This sounds like a "strange" arrangement, to play up so that you could buy another home game, but teams do it all the time. It isn't the most glamorous paradigm but it is fairly efficient. As long as the team is DI, that is really all that matters. I'm a bigger fan of H/H's, or conference mandated games with other conferences. TO me, I really miss the Bracket Buster...that is a loss of two DI games per year.

Bahamas will probably be a 3 game tournament. That has become Randy's MO lately. Final thought, Weber was supposed to have gotten something for participating in the Far West Classic hosted by OSU and in which Weber ended up playing Portland. Maybe OSU and Portland ended up paying off the Cats.

I would like to see two more worth while D1 home games and at least 1 P5 team if not 2. Travel east of the mississippi. Plenty of good D1 mid-major options if no one in the west will play us. Could this be the fan base saving schedule after last years monstrosity? Has a good start.

Bahamas tourney will be Nov 15-18. Weber will play three games against Cal State Bakersfield, Central Michigan and San Jose State. By playing in this tournament Weber will be allowed to play up to 30 total games. With 20 conference games, this makes 27 games and should complete the D1 schedule (maybe they'll add 1 true road game?). And expect 1 or 2 non-D1 games. This schedule is a huge improvement.

Since the schedule hasn't been published yet, I totally agree with you. I'm sure that the coaching staff is trying to add anywhere between 1 and 3 more games. Best case...1 money game on the road, a guarantee at the Dee and another home game against a beat DII or below. To me that would make this schedule absolutely stellar.

That makes 4 Div. 1 OOC home games. I don't care how good or bad Delaware State is just like I didn't care how good or bad APB was last year.

A Div.1 home game is a Div. 1 home game.

Which makes our Div.1 OOC scheduling consist of
Utah State
BYU
Utah Valley
Fresno State
Delaware State

San Jose State
Central Michigan
Cal State Bakersfield

My only beef is none of those games are true road games.

I'm not sure that Fresno will be home. It is a 2 for 1, but that 2 for 1 could be two away and one home or away, home, and away. I'm hopeful it is a home game, but I think PurpFlife was trying to say that the Fresno game is away this year. He has no proof, but that doesn't stop him. I've also heard that Weber will have another h/h starting on the road this season.

According to this video from March, Paul says that Fresno State is a scheduled home game this season.

While I agree that any D1 is better than a non-D1, Delaware St was the worst D1 team in the nation last season, playing in maybe the worst D1 conference in the nation. They won two D1 games (both in conference), and ended the season ranked dead last in RPI. Can't wait for this game. Wonder how much Weber is paying them to come to Ogden and take their beatdown. It is laughable that paying for guarantee games only gets you APB and Del St type teams. The NCAA is a joke.

At this point I don't care. You get what you can afford to get and for Weber's budget it's not much. It's not Weber's fault that other teams are asking for too much money. The fact that Weber is at least buying home games is good enough for me.

The Boise State beat writer for the Idaho Press is reporting your closed door scrimmage will be with the Broncos.

We seem to have a lot of scrimmages with Boise State, it's too bad we can't get them to agree to an actual game.

I guess its a start? But to afford better quality opponents you have to have a bigger budget. To do that you have to generate revenue by playing game people actually want to come watch. Oh also marketing but thats neither here nor there.
Play garbage games you make garbage money... then you can only afford more garbage. That being said I think this is one of the better schedules we have had in awhile. Yes no true OOC road games but some good teams and good tests for coaching and players.

Schedule is out. It sucks. Save BYU, it is garbage. Two of the home games 99.9% of America hasn’t even heard of. Is it even worth buying season tickets? I dare say no. Not even a single game against a “Power 5” school. Smh

Bethesda and Benedictine University at Mesa? Well, at least Coach Duft is expanding our teams religious experiences from Baptist to Catholic this season. Regardless, we are continuing the religious parade of the West Coast again this season.

I understand Randy's dislike for Dixie State's coach, but what does he have against Westminster, they are a DII school now, and an instate school. Could potentially generate a few bucks. Heavens (no pun intended with the religious schools) SLCC would be a better option, even though it is a JC.

By the way, Olds or Dee can't a school publicize the secret game? I think we played at Boise last year and that they are supposed to come to Ogden this year. I heard that the NCAA now allows fans to watch or at least for schools to publish results. Is that true?

Better than last season's worst ever schedule, but yeah, it still sucks. Fresno at home and I probably would have purchased season tickets, but now I'm not so sure. The schedules are going to suck from now on, until the joke of an organization the NCAA does something to force the bigger schools to go on the road, which they won't, or can't really. The bigger schools would never allow it. Today's college basketball, save the NCAA tournament, is a bad product. And corrupt as hell. Have already lost most interest and losing more every season.
