A program that has had four winning seasons in a row and currently is ranked in the top 5 is only averaging 8250?? This in and of itself should be a reason for athletic marketing to be replaced. This is pathetic!

The athletic department is doing well, but I would like to see some changes with how Weber promotes the football team.

The first thing I would do, is target BYU fans in Davis County!

If marketed right, we should get some huge playoff crowds.

Can't just blame everything on "marketing". People living in Northern Utah, Weber fans or not, just need to get off their asses and come support this program. It's doing things that have never been done before. There are no excuses. I just don't understand why anyone living in the area would choose to support other programs over this one, especially with what is going on right now. Why would you still be a BYU fan? Honestly, that program offers nothing right now and has no hope of offering anything in the future. And Utah? Why would you want to ride that roller coaster of a program while paying ridiculous amounts of money to do so? The best and funnest product right now is in your backyard people, wake the hell up!

I see the same thing. Local alumni of Weber choosing to spend their dollars at BYU or the U and spending the whole day trying to commute to the games and back home. Some were never fully converted as students at Weber but many were very involved on campus including student body officers and members of fraternities and sororities. I believe Weber put such a poor product on the field for so long, it will take time to recover. Marketing would help, but building a fun game atmosphere and a winning tradition will do much more.

What bothers me the most about our attendance is that despite the fact that this team keeps winning and rising in the national polls, our attendance decreases each game. The only increase we had was our game vs UNC which had 213 more fans than our home opener.

Since then our attendance has gotten worse week by week. After UNC, it went down 457 vs Eastern Wash, then 149 more vs Montana State, and then 205 more vs Sacramento State. This team keeps winning and the attendance keeps going down. It makes ZERO sense to me.

It's sad to think that at the end of the regular season Weber could only have the 8th highest total in conference. Eastern, UC Davis, Idaho State and SUU all have one home game left. It's not farfetched to think that they will all pass us up by the end of the year.

Sad....just very sad.

I agree that some of the issue is that Northern Utah, specifically Weber County, invest its time and money on anything else, but Weber State. However, if you don't know when something is, how can you spend your money on that event? The message is lacking and everything is beginning to feel stale. I'm sure that there is one thing that we can all agree on...Marketing for athletics is bad. There have been some changes with the Standard and SOE, that I feel are an improvement, but you still need to get the message to the community in more ways. Every year athletic marketing misses the mark, and a lot of the reason why it does is because, well, because of sheer laziness. Case in point...last year we hosted a playoff game. We knew it was the only one the Cats would be able to host. Win or lose, we knew what the 2018 schedule was going to be, much like how we know what the 2019 schedule is going to be. Why not print something to hand out to fans coming and leaving with future game information about the 2018 schedule? It just needed to have dates and those teams the Cats are scheduled to play and on the back how to buy season tickets (which should be available to buy/renew right after the season ends).

This is just one of hundreds. One more for kicks and giggles. Another missed opportunity, every year the Ogden Marathon has a huge event using the field house. THERE IS 0 Weber State information at that event and it is hosted in our facility. This happens in late MAY, 3 months before the team opens play, but nothing. SHEER LAZINESS and a lack of inventiveness and sight.

At Weber State there are numerous departments that would grant credit for their students to market and sell. I talked to a man at a local high school football game, a serious donor and former board of trustee, who was complaining about how often Weber State misses the mark and just doesn't do enough. He said, "in the attempt to make something look good, they have forgotten that the whole point, is to get people there to see it. Why not use students and award credit?" Keep wrapping everything but at the end of the day Stewart can fit 18K and the DEE 12K, the goal shouldn't be aesthetics, but filling the seats.

What a problem we have with the attendance numbers. Although many know I do not agree with the posted numbers, the fact remains that as the season went on, the team got better and better (ranked higher and higher), but attendance continued to drop. I have always thought that winning will fill the stands. That clearly is not true. As a team who has been ranked for the better part of 3 complete seasons, there is clearly a problem. I am not sure how ti fix this, but hopefully someone can come up with a solution. The statement that Bovee made, "if we dont sellout this game (first playoff game), then I am not sure if we ever will," how frightening was that.

If something can't be done to get a healthy percentage of the student body interested, it ain't ever gonna happen. Not only does a strong student section add to the numbers and game environment, it becomes part of the draw to the non-student community. Community relations certainly could and should be improved but excited students are a natural draw. It's tough when so many living in Weber, Davis, and even Box Elder are all in for one or more of the "big three." If Weber is competing with them, they lose. I know people probably about 10-to-1 who live in these counties who will regularly attend games in Logan, Orem, or SLC vs Ogden. Interestingly enough, though, I sat next to BYU fans (Father/Son) at the Maine game who drove up from Orem to cheer for Weber. It wasn't too cold for them to drive an hour and support a team they normally don't in a night game, no less. Lot's of Weber "fans" who wouldn't drive 10 minutes to do the same. It's unfortunate Weber couldn't generate much excitement in that game for them and any others like them.
