Games at Nevada and Oregon in non-conference. Conference games at Idaho, Montana, Sac State and North Dakota. Five games at home somewhere, all tentatively scheduled for Providence Park, subject to the Timbers throwing a wrench in to everything.

Even numbered year: theoretically, the Timbers suck in even numbered years going back to before MLS (from 2006 on, anyway).

The Thorns are another matter.

When the schedule first came out, it said Nevada was Sept 1st, now it says August 31st. But Nevada's website still says Sept 1st. Does anyone know the correct date?

It's in Reno. Go down and make a long weekend of it. When they say there's a football game going on, cash out and head on over. Unless you're up big, of course.

Just been announced as Friday, Aug 31 at 6pm.

You guys know I'm new to portland state. I don't like this one bit, But Im going to still come up from sacramento to support my Son and the program. I will be at the nevada and oregon games. I'm still trying to figure out what games im going to when there home.

Hillsboro stadium is in Hillsboro, not Portland...and it’s too far away. But, it’s a great place to watch football. Intimate stadium with 7000 seats. Probably plenty for next year, hopefully, not enough for following years. Also, there is plenty of parking.

So, it appears our new “home field” will be out in the suburbs, about 14 miles from campus and without any reasonable Tri-Met access. Well why not? That is where our AD decided Viking soccer and softball teams would play before friends and family. Our former home has gone from being Portland Civic Stadium the home many Portland area athletic events to being Merritt Paulson’s private soccer pitch. Sad, very sad.

So what they are saying is the move is due to "potential playoff matchups or stadium construction". Sounds like it is only a temporary move. We played at Hillsboro before when the Timbers were fixing it up. When the baseball folk get their stadium built we will have another option, but for now the only other option is, well, Oregon State?

Don't you all remember last year when the Timbers gave us 5 days notice before the Weber game that we would not be able to use the stands on the east side? Or that we found out in late July that we would not be able to play the Montana game there? This way we know where we are playing a full three months before the season begins.

I'm glad that there finally seems to be some bitterness towards the Timbers on this. I've been fed up with them for two years now, as you all know. I can't wait for pounder to come in and spew all his Timbers nonsense regarding this.

I realized there hasn't been a link to this story. From OLive:

We should get the OK from the league to reschedule games at Providence to Friday night when we have an actual Timbers/Thorns conflict.

Is Providence park public or privately owned

The stadium is owned by the City of Portland, and is managed by Peregrine Sports, LLC, the entity that owns the Timbers and Thorns.

Sad to see this article over the weekend but most of you know how I feel. If we can't fill more than 3-4000 seats we are never going to be a priority consideration for the stadium. We must start winning and start making it fun for the community.

I got dragged to the starlight parade Saturday night. We were in a section of almost 1000 on a corner and when the PSU float came by with some football players and the mascot they didn't even get a single cheer outside of my wife and I. We've got a lot of work to do...

I'm seeing less bitterness here than we did from the two dozen AAA baseball fans 10 years ago. Less numbers, less impact. You can either see that as a challenge... or, well, who knows.

For as petty as John Canzano is, this program has a lot of work to do to recover from his blasting the "800 people attended a PSU game" piece some years ago. Hence why faithinviks is spot on.

You should be seeing less bitterness. PSU football doesn't draw much to Provence Park, while professional soccer does. Any stakeholder (i.e. taxpayer in the City of Portland), would probably agree. Nostalgia doesn't pay the bills.

Winning helps.
