2018 Predictions

Just ove a month to go. Here is my predictions for the season...

McNeese State (W). McNeese is a good team but we play well against SoCon teams. I think it will be a close game, but we will come out winning.

South Dakota (L). USD is a very good team even with losing their stud QB from last season.

Sac State (W). The Hornets have a good defense and probably the best defensive end in the conference, but we win in a close one.

Weber State (L). The Wildcats will compete for the conference title.

UND (L). I hate losing to the hockey team and this is not a conference game, but we haven't faired well against them lately.

UC Davis (W)The Aggies have the best wide receiver in the country and Hawkins seems to be bringing in some talent, but we get our homecoming win.

Portland State (W). We've been playing well against the Vikes and we get our first road win.

NAU (W). Very good team but we seem to have their number at home.

Southern Utah (L). The T-Birds (along with Weber State) will compete for the conference title.

Eastern Washington (L) Primed for an upset, but the Eagles are loaded.

Montana State L Too much talent in Bozeman.

That leaves us with 5wins and 6 losses. I'm probably being to optimistic and much of these wins will depend on us staying healthy with key guys like Knipp and Riek but neither of those two play more than half of the season. We had 3 starting true freshmen on the offensive line and the older guys are back healthy.

The defense should be a little tougher with coach English back and I think there will be an upgrade there. The LB's need to improve big time.

McNeese is not a member of the SoCon, they are a member of the Southland Conference. The Southland has four of its members ranked in one of the first polls out, 2018 College Football America. Sam Houston State #4, Nichols State #15, Central Arkansas #17, and McNeese State #19
In the Big Sky, Weber State #7, Eastern Washington #9, Northern Arizona #22, Sacramento State
#23, and Montana #24.

McNeese is a Southland team not a Southern Conference team. We have had a pretty decent record against Big Sky teams in the past. I'd recommend doing a little research on McNeese.

This would be the year and schedule to make something happen. Unfortunately, our coach remains a hack and couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag.

4-7 is my guess. But another 3 win season would not shock me.

Which sucks because it's my first year back living in CO for 5 years and would like to see some good football.

Thanks doc, but it doesn't matter. I still think the Bears win the game.

I am a little worried about the altitude. We are probably going to have to play everybody we bring on the plane. ;)

You would think the altitude would be an advantage; I mean we have a powerful running back that should run down defenses, and an All-American track star/All-Conference receiver. We should tire a defense out! That being said, like SLenz said we have a coaching staff that will muddle it all up and probably cost us the game. 😞

We will have to deal with the altitude this year. In the return game in 2020, it will be in the first few weeks in September and your guys will have to deal with the heat and humidity down here.

I am more afraid of your receiver than the runningback. Our defense was number 1 in the nation last season in rushing defense. We try to stop the run and make people throw. That is our M.O.

Of course, with the altitude we are probably in trouble in this game and you will win it by dominating the 4th quarter.

It’s possible, but our running back and QB are talented but known for their injuries. The QB gets hurt a lot because our offensive line is horrible.

Lack of depth in the offensive line is what has hurt us in the last few years. Don't know how much better it will be this year. If it isn't and we can't run the ball with all the young WR's we have, we will be in trouble.

Seems like both teams have the same weakness. UNC has not had a dominate o-line in years. It has been mediocre at best.

McNeese (L) They went 9-2 last year, no way the bears win.

South Dakota (L)

Sac State (L). We are the same team as last year and we were trounced 50-21

Weber State (L). The Wildcats will compete for the conference title.

UND (L). At least they are moving to MVC. Bring back the Nickel Trophy please

UC Davis (W) We might be able to pull this one off.

Portland State (W). We've been playing well against the Vikes and we get our first road win. (Agreed)

NAU (L). Possible (W) if we have like 4 interceptions like last time.

Southern Utah (L). The T-Birds (along with Weber State) will compete for the conference title.

Eastern Washington (L)

Montana State (L) Too much talent in Bozeman.

I am thinking a 2 win season. Too bad we are not playing Idaho State this year. They are totally are toilet bowl rival.

They will win 3 or 4 games, have a losing conference record... it's a broken record at this point.

I feel for a better year with a winning season and our first playoff game in D1 history. We have a great QB and what looks like a new and improved defense. Our O line has more experience and we have some great receivers to go along with a couple of very good running backs.

Well, in the first three practices, our defensive line was just blowing by our offensive line (which was our weak point last season). This is not good at all. You guys probably have this one.

Hopefully, when the full pads go on today, things will even out.

You haven't seen our o-line. It's probably just as bad.

Yeah, but with all the WR's we lost from last year's team, we are probably going to have to run the ball a lot this season. If the offensive line doesn't come around, it may be hard to do.
