2019 Schedule

FBSchedules.com has our schedule up. 2019 is a 12 game season so we could see a D2/NAIA home game in an open week. Pretty tough schedule with the back to back road games late in the season.

So, 8-3 or perhaps 7-4 (if we don't catch Fresneck by surprise). I think we're on the bubble at best, and I suspect that it will probably burst on us. I really think we're going to have to find a way to beat either EWU or UM (perhaps even both) to get in....
 
Here is my prediction:

Slow your roll sunshine we have not seen spring practice yet and have not seen the offense/defense changes.

I predict the team plays with a lot more urgency. I predict given the coaching changes we will see the team play the full 60 minutes or they will find a spot on the sidelines.

Wins and losses: yep we will have both this year.

Fun to look at the pre season rankings for FCS listed on the Montana and Weber State fan boards.

EWU, UCD, WSU in the top ten or so in all the pre season rankings. MSU in the teens and UM mentioned at 23rd.

Great to have EWU, Montana and Weber coming to Hornet Stadium this fall.

Perhaps an extra selling point for season tickets now on sale.
 
Hoping to make it down for a few home games this year, for sure the season opener on August 31. I just may try and get to the Idaho road game this year as well, closest the Hornets will play to where I live this year. #StingersUp

Should be a brutal season. It's going to take a few years for Taylor and his staff to turnover the roster. Hard to see more than 2 wins this season, anything above that is house money imo. That said, I'm still looking forward to this season.

Man, we Hornets fans sure are beaten down. TWO wins? Shake yourself bro. ;)

I think this staff with some good talent returning and with the kids they've brought in are capable of 5 wins. That's my expectation at least. The team won 7 games just two seasons ago with a staff I don't feel is as talented or driven to succeed.

I mean, this team returns Elijah Dotson who might be the best RB in the Big Sky. I firmly believe Taylor will find ways to get the ball in that kids hands a lot even if it's via the pass game. And the Hornets have a very experienced QB returning. I realize health is always the BIG issue with Thomson, but should he be able to play most games -- this team should be quite good offensively. They should be above average running and slinging it. When an offense can do both at a high level, it's hard not to move the ball and score points.

Defense is the big key IMO. Can this team stop anybody? Especially the offenses in the BIG SKY? I think Coach Andy might be a step in the right direction.

Even if they can't, I still see this team being able to outscore some of it's opponents.

IMO, low projection is 3 wins. My expectation is at least 5 wins. Anything over that is gravy.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. We "should" beat Southern Oregon and Northern Colorado. Fresno and ASU are body bag games and depending on how things shake out over the season maybe we steal one or 2 wins somewhere. We should have a shot against Cal Poly and Idaho, but those are both on the road with the CP game coming after a brutal 3 game stretch against EWU and the Montuckies and the Idaho game being the the latter half of back to back road games.

I'm excited to see Taylor and his staff change the culture of this program, and I plan on being at every game this season.

Good find, thanks for the post. I heard Rucker is out for the year with an ACL.
 
And, I'm back. Well, I never left, just been quietly lurking. But, the dawn of a new era, a new coaching regime, and the hope to rise above seasons of losing and mediocrity has pulled me back-on to the board, albeit a decision I'll probably regret later. But for now, optimism is high for my 23rd season following Hornet football just like it was for those eras following Volek: Mooshagian, Sperbeck, and Sears. If I'm disappointed yet again, at least I'll have the experience to handle it (ahem) maturely. But for now, I'm clear-eyed and rationally looking forward to the Big Sky and national championships in our future.
