Its up to the coaches and training staff to make these young men the best they can be.luckyintheorder said:Overall, a super class ranked #127 and I believe the top FCS class. Just behind Utah State and Hawaii and ahead of the rest of the BigSky and NDSU.. Don't want to get my hopes up as Eastern has had a lot of great classes the last 4-5 years. The 2017 and 2018 classes will have a huge impact on next season, this class adds more competition ... again. Who wants it more?

This is quite a class on paper. HUDL's show a lot of athleticism and aggression. Early standouts:
Jennings - he's a baller. I'd have him #2 on the depth chart by the eye test.
Roe - he's a man already
Chism - has to overcome a lot of "talent" at Eastern, but his mental toughness shines through on HUDL
Hansen - good feet and explosion
Lane - always like physical QB's who move to Safety. They see it all

Actually, it appears Princeton is the #1 FCS class, seven spots above us. We'd be second. A lot of Big Sky teams only trail us by a little bit. Did Montana really only sign five kids? Are they that deep with returners? I didn't realize their team was so young this year.

Yep. I never count Ivy league, but you're correct. BigSky had a good haul. At 94 points Eastern was 10 better than UC Davis and more than that over the rest. We all agree these are time will tell assessments.
Any shortfalls?
LDopaPDX said:It's probably hard to say if we fell short anywhere. I assume there'll be at least 5 or so kids added in February/March--- whenever the next signing day is. I'd have to assume OL and DL were the big focal points, and it looks like we peeled some pretty good kids for those spots.
Matthew Brown sort of went under the radar with is commitment, but it sounds like the expectation is that he's the kind of kid who may play as a true frosh. Coaches think he's pretty ready-made, which is extremely rare for an FCS DT.
Anyone know the deal on those couple of kids who committed but didn't sign?

I like Silas and if Pierce is back all for it. There are plenty of "bodies" on the roster but none have shined in fall camp the last two seasons which if really my concern. The guys Trey (transfer I like) or Justice, the current verbal commit; could fill the APB scat back style needed in tandem with the bangers. Eastern will be replacing the OL but not concerned as they all seem to have great measurables.LDopaPDX said:Are you gonna go to Gainesville? I suspect there'll be a decent number of people making the trip. It might be a good use of my airline miles.
The only thing that's a bummer is you can get some nasty wind and rain that time of year in Florida.
As for the RB position, I think we're in good shape with Silas and Tamarick back. Both can play the bulldozer RB. We still need more of a scat guy on the roster. We may have one now on the roster as there are a couple of guys listed at RB that I don't know much about.
