Other than that, the reveal of Devin Gandy is complete as he’s on the two deep now. Love to see him back healthy for four games in 2022! And he keeps his eligibility…. Then little bro joins next season.

Forgot to touch on Gandy in the Richmond thread but yeah that is a nice weapon to add this time of year.

Yeah, after inquiring about him all season long it was a super nice surprise to see him on the field last Saturday. The 1st time he touched the ball it was a really big play.

The Hornets have a plethora of good receivers, but having Gandy out there with Pierre Williams, Jared Gipson and Marshel Martin can really put the defense in a bind.

Was there ever any official word on what kept him out all season? One big difference between following an FCS program versus a P5 is the communication of key injuries/absences.

On the telecast, they said Gandy was injured. It makes sense to bring a player back for the first playoff game like that because they can play 4 games and still use it as a redshirt year. Montana State did the same thing with Ifanse. He was ready probably many weeks ago, but they were already cruising to the playoffs, where they would need him more and he wouldn’t have to lose a year of eligibility. So why not just have the extra rest and prep time.

I think Gandy is a special player - besides the value returning KOs, he always seems to get separation and wins a lot of 50/50 jump balls. He won one last week but couldn’t hold on to the wet ball.

Not official, but I believe there was an ACL tear sometime in January.

Gotcha. Timeline makes sense.

Sure is nice to have him back.

Looks like no rain for the game tomorrow, hope that translates into a lot of butts in the seats.

High 40's and less than 15% chance of rain and less than 5 mph winds throughout the game per weather channel hourly forecast.

We ran six plays against Richmond from a formation we used a lot in the past but hadn’t used this year. We lined up the slot receiver between the guard and the tackle. What this does is make the end go wide and give Jake or Asher an extra second or two to make their progression. I would expect to see more of this to try to open up the middle of the Cardinals defense for Cameron to run into. I would also anticipate seeing Gandy on some fly sweeps now that he got a game under his belt.

What type of results did they have on those specific 6 plays?

4-of-6 and a TD

Looking like the rain may hold off... Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Same here. I thought the rain would heavily impact the passing game last week and I was completely wrong on that. Rain would probably make it harder for Scott to hit those bombs down the field, but then again maybe not. At least no rain means it'll be more pleasant for us fans in the stands.

4 hours to go! We’ll know our potential opponent by kickoff time, or shortly thereafter…

Samford's defense has been impressive so far.

Yikes, we are lucky to have the special teams that we do. NDSU just blew up the Samford line, kick was low and blocked.

Samford is inserting their injured QB for the second half who was a Walter Payton finalist. Nothing to lose at this point down 17-0.

Samford’a QB Hiers has a damn splint with flex tape over a broken wrist/arm and is trying to throw it, with mixed results.
