2023 Spring Football

It’s almost here!

Looks like Camp, Conklin, Hale and Bennett all in red jerseys, present and accounted for. Worth noting, Conklin graduated early to enroll at SAC for the Spring - rarer at FCS level than FBS.

Also, shout out to Marshel Martin for staying out of the Portal. Hopefully seeing guys like Mapu stay, grow, and have success in draft prep is incentive for other guys to stay!

Updated roster posted - my goodness, even though we have a question mark at QB and we lost Skattebo, this roster is still stacked, especially on the OL and DL, and offensive and defensive backfields….

Kaiden Bennett taking consistent first team reps in Newley every pic.

I never understood all the dooming surrounding the Taylor departure. Once all the key coaches were retained/promoted and there wasn't a mass exodus of players via the portal and we landed all the key recruits for this incoming class, it should have been clear to everyone that we are well positioned and poised to defend our threepeat. With solid QB play this season we'll win our 4th straight BSC Title. Until proven otherwise, the Big Sky Conference title runs through Sacramento. :coffee:

If Bennett and Conklin live up to their stars, we could witness even another step forward. I know we brought in Camp from SD, and Hale is solid too.

I am going to go way out on a limb here, but I think Camp was brought in under a 2 QB system. I think the system played havoc with Defensive sets. Camp clearly has the stronger arm and I watch some of that SD game where the pulled off the upset, and he is fairly accurate. Could be wrong, but would be surprised if we did not see this in some limited fashion.

Yeah, we weren’t bringing him in to ride the pine… we’re probably looking at the Dunniway(Camp)/O’Hara(Bennett) strategy reincarnated. Conklin can still play up to 4 games and RS…. I hope they have a plan for Hale too - I think he’s a playmaking D1 talent.

What will be interesting to see is if this strategy becomes even more deadly and efficient with Fresques as sole playcaller/QB Coach.

The offense looked a bit out of sync especially the passing game. I couldn’t tell if it was just because the defense is much more ahead at this stage and there are lot of returning starters on that defense.
