2024 Recruiting Updates

This is on pace to be the best recruiting class in all of FCS with who has committed and who is close to committing.

Just wait on the defensive side - the biggest swings have yet leave the park yet -- but they will.

Great to hear. I've been hearing some chatter, but it's always tough to know what to believe.

In terms of local area talent, I'm hoping the Hornets are able to land QB Caden Pinnick, along with his already committed teammate WR Tommy Poe. Another under-recruited talent I hope they land is TE/LB Gavin Correia from Rocklin.

One thing I’ve noticed, with some of the new assistant coaches we have being from the SoCal area, there has been a lot more recruits coming from the SoCal area, which isn’t a bad thing in my opinion, we want the best recruits coming in here. I know we have a hot bed talent in the Sacramento area too, but need the best available.

Absolutely. The talent here in NorCal is amazing and IMO gives the Hornets a competitive advantage from the rest of the Big Sky sans UCD and Cal Poly.

However, SoCal is a different beast entirely. Some could argue it is the top recruiting base in the country. It's certainly up there if it isn't the richest.

There's good reason why Mater Dei and St. John Bosco have been the #1 and #2 HS programs in the country the past 7+ years or so. Recruiting aside, they are pulling in kids from all over SoCal and beyond. And the way it's been playing out, those kids are better than any of the top flight programs from Florida, Georgia, Texas, Ohio, Maryland, Louisiana, and New Jersey.

Being able to siphon some of that talent that doesn't get cherry picked by the FBS and P5 is hugely important.

Not saying they won’t land Pinnick who has several offers including UCD, but they now have eyes on another qb out of San Ramon Valley, Luke Baker who had a fine season this year. He listed today how he was offered by Sac State. Luke is also listed as a ⭐⭐⭐️ from 247.

I listened to an interview with Andy this year where they don’t like to send out multiple offers for a position such as qb, they will focus on the one the want until they can’t get him.

Luke had also previously committed to a baseball scholarship at Santa Clara, recently decommitted from Santa Clara to follow his dream of and continue to play QB.

They also gave a PWO to Luke Baker’s favorite target, he is a WR/TE Zack Dodson.

The linebackers are rolling in and some may play right away, I'd guess... Roberts turned down offers from San Diego State and Nevada.

This is very good news, Sting. Thank you for all you do to report Hornet news.

In addition with the resignation of FUCD HC Dan Hawkins we should have a good opportunity to pick up a few players that might have been on the fence between our programs.

Not hard to do, here's the pitch: If you want to play in the playoffs, be a Hornet. If you want to watch the playoffs, be one of them.

Well looks like Tell the Truth Sundays did not go over too well at Stanford. RB E.J. Smith and QB Ari Patu have hit the portal

Beau Baldwin, OC at Arizona State was canned. This was the guy who sweet talked Skattebo into transferring there. Wonder if Skat would consider returning to a winner with Fulcher graduating?

Would the NCAA allow that without requiring a sit-out year? They've had some very Javertian "interpretations" of the rule lately, including some applied to moves made BEFORE the rule was passed. The NCAA has absolutely ZERO cred with the portal, as far as I'm concerned....

I’d be done as a booster if Skat was invited back. We really tried. He left for what turned out to be fake NLI money

Huge recruiting win, Phoenix Rose is a 3 star recruit and ranks 102 overall in CA. Highest rated for 2024. Hes a QB, probably a starter day 1

When I talked about home run swings on defense this is one of the two guys. If we can get both…

Rocklin must be p!$$ed that Rocklin-Whitney had him. ROFL....

I doubt Rocklin cares. They are playing for a Regional title and State Bowl birth this Friday while boasting one of the stingiest defenses in NorCal.

My guess is Phoenix Rose would be the one wishing he played for the Thunder rather than the Wildcats.
