2025-26 MBB Season

For the portion of the game that was broadcast, I thought they looked good. Their first game playing together. Technically a scrimmage. They were also missing Mikey. I didn't see anything that made me concerned, besides the lack of height.

I am afraid it is going to be a long season. Hope I am wrong. New Orleans won 4 games last year. Concerned we will struggle to shoot the three. I do think Cherry will be a load for our opponents. Not much track record for the rest of the roster. May not learn much the first two games against non-D1 opponents. Interested to see how we fare against UC Santa Barbara and Davis.

I'll have to see if the replay is on ESPN+. I don't have much expectation for the Bibby era other than being entertained. We'll see how this ride goes...

What little was televised, I see Cherry as a load for BSC, Johnson looks like he can be a problem for the opposition, Teat looked good, Lavrenov may be a real good freshman and wondering what anyone saw in Gardner??? Have to see if Williams has still got the desire to play like he had in HS....If he does, this team will compete on given nights with any BSC team....

Was there any reason given for Williams not playing in this game?
There is speculation that his comments about not being committed to college, and considering the NBA, were not looked upon favorably by Coach Bibby. He might lack NCAA coaching experience, but I wouldn't try him...

First 11 minutes of the scrimmage. Cherry is going to be a load inside. We actually have players that can hit the open perimeter shot. Free throw shooting left a lot to be desired and lots of reaching and being out of position on defense. Should be an interesting season.

Hornets looked very average in the first half but picked it up in the second half....Cherry had a double, double but also had 6 TOs to muddy up his performance....Johnson looked real good as did Teat, both with 21 pts and 4 and 3 assists respectively....Summers also looked good to me....O'Neal didn't impress me, but will be serviceable as a 4, he's got to get a bit more motivated.....Williams finally got engaged in the second half and showed a bit of what he's capable of with 10 pts and 6 assists....Gardner, after looking like a zero against UNO showed he can definitely play with 11 pts and 7 rbs in only 19 minutes...have to get this kind of play from him if we are going to go anywhere in the BSC...both freshmen, Lavrenov and Robinson can contribute as well....Lavrenov, in only 5 minutes got 5 pts and 3 rbs....He must not be showing much defense in practice or else he deserves more minutes....Robinson got 18 minutes and scored 3 pts with 4 rbs....With a bit of a height problem, I think Lavrenov better learn how to defend quickly because I think we will need him on the boards against D1 teams....First game, lots of turnovers but also lots of assists which bodes well for the future....Gotta wait and see how they stand up against UCSB to find out if they will be a threat in conference.......

Agree with ssman on the 103-79 win over Dominican. Lots of athleticism on the roster, Bibby rotated in a ton of players to feel them out. Defense was suspect at times as Dominican's ball movement created some opportunities in which they capitalized on. It was a close game but the Hornets ran away with it in the final 12 minutes.

Good turn out for the game. The place shows well on the highlight clips I've seen. Another tune up against a non-D1 this Friday before moving on to some real opponents.
