I went to the scrimmage last night. Good energy, offense wasn't nearly as crisp as the week prior. Here are my comments:
- Offense looked very strong in the opening series. Running game was on point.
- Passing game struggled, a lot of it seemed to be the defensive line beating the offensive line as there was rarely a clean pocket. Timing on deep routes was off. Very tight coverage by the secondary on every play.
- Overall the defense has a very strong showing. The offense was able to make some plays here and there but I think the story of the night was the solid showing on the defensive side at every level.
- Kicker missed the one live field goal attempt. Not sure if it was a bad snap/hold or just a botched kick.
- I'm really impressed with Malone at quarterback. He showed good poise yet again. He'll probably redshirt this season but he has really good potential if he sticks around this program.
