2025 Offseason Portal Tracker

This answers how the roster is going to be balanced out. Some won't make it to next season.

I mentioned this possibility in the signees thread. It only makes sense given the amount of open-ended offers.

This is the worst part of this transition. Players that want to be here being squeezed out. Sad to see Devin go, but he hasn’t been the same player post-injury. I really hope he catches on and succeeds elsewhere.

He had some offers when he was in active in the portal a few weeks ago, so I'm sure he'll be ok.

I feel for the kids who have to wait around until the spring to get into the portal.

Younger bro Darren caught the axe too. My guess is we will nix about another 20 this year. My guess is the holdover coaches were asked who the cancers/slackers were.

I don't see the need to label anyone a "cancer or slacker"....sometimes things just don't work out for both parties....no need to label a player you probably don't know squat about ....

If you think the Gandy brothers are cancers or slackers -- you have never met those kids.

Devin struggled to come back from his knee injury - but it was likely because he was over doing it in his rehab. The kid loved the Hornets and wanted to get back on the field.

Darren's specific receiving position is the deepest we have with the new additions. That's a numbers game for a guy still learning route running (he basically only ran Gos and screens in the offense at Silverado) and still trying to put on pounds and grow (he's gotten taller since coming to Sac).

Everyone on the coaching staff and Jason Ross say that they’re good kids.

The only cancerous people are the people on this board labeling great kids “cancer” and knows nothing about them.

I surely haven’t seen any behavior over the years or even heard about much of anything that would cause me to suspect any of these kids to be cancers or slackers. But I’m also not connected to the team. I’d assume someone making that claim would have first hand knowledge. But it’s sounding like that isn’t the case.

IMO this is about a new HC wanting his type of players and placing heavy focus on drastically upgrading the overall talent level of the team, nothing more.

If someone has evidence to the contrary, by all means present it.

Color me surprised about the Phoenix Rose news, too.

The phrasing of the tweet sure makes it appear, to me, as if he wasn’t wanted or, at the very least, they didn’t want him bad enough to give the assurances he was expecting.

Yeah. Its a different statement than the Gandy bros and Xander. The way it reads is, Rose wasn't given any assurances. Looking at all of the DBs coming in, he had to make a choice. All speculation of course.

It's unfortunate.

Bringing in a lot of talent but hard to picture it all jelling fast enough for a successful season. Sure hope I am wrong
I keep going back to UIW, model seems to work for them. Like someone said on another thread - I’m inclined to give Marion the benefit of the doubt with all these coaches and personnel until I see negative outcomes…

I took the Rose statement the same way. He chose his words carefully, and differently from some of the others we've seen. Rose's statement read like he wasn't getting the same perks as a lot of the new guys coming in and he wasn't happy with it and chose to look elsewhere. I do not blame him, and these are the growing pains of a program looking ahead to FBS...
