2026 Football Schedule Thread

I don’t understand how we’re landing any recruits right now without a schedule for 2026. I wonder if there’s something they’re able to share with the recruits and the incoming coaching transfers that they’re not able to share with the public? Or does everyone just have blind faith?

Bodega...I told you earlier...there's a schedule in place.

I appreciate your input on this board OSH. But as someone who is an avid fan but not on the inner circle of the program I feel like it would have been leaked by now, or at least some more promising indications. So my question isn't intended to challenge you but rather a curiosity to try to fill in the blanks.

For the younger players, they would also need to have some confidence that there won't be problems with the future of the program beyond this year.

It's not secrecy...think prudence. It's avoidance of potential contractual issues if a last-minute conference affiliation should present itself.
If the schedule is set though I would imagine that contracts have been signed and the teams aren’t on the other end being strung along like “sure we’ll play you but we’re okay not signing a contract in case something better happens for you.”

I'd imagine it would be frowned upon for an independent to announce games against foes whose full conference slate has not been announced yet either.

I still am not sure if I see the relevance? There is an entire website dedicated to future schedules agreements regardless of conference schedules being set. Our Independent schedule would not reveal anything about other conferences. At this point we’re probably going to see unexciting games against other FCS independents like Merrimack and Chicago State that appear to be available.

In my opinion…
1. there is still not a full contracted schedule
2. FBS affiliation is for sure, not happening in the 2026 season.

In your opinion, what do you think the reason would be we can't get the contracts signed and games announced?

Based on pure gut feeling and circumstantial evidence at best…

1. Prezzy Wood has been overly vocal time and time again over the last 18 months all we have is missed deadlines and false hope, one would have to think he at this point would be the first person to want to share exciting news about the schedule getting filled. Especially with how many times he’s commented that people will be pleased with “it”

2. Same thing I said a couple posts ago responding to Kadeezy, our schedule has nothing to do with anybody else’s conference schedules being announced. So if it’s ready, what’s the hold up? Many schools have began to announce their schedules in the last week.

3. I don’t know if anyone else on this board believes that an FBS affiliation is possible in 2026, if so, I am not one of them. With the additions of UTRGV and Maine, all of a sudden losing Lamar. This now feels like a Hail Mary and not the exciting schedule that Wood envisioned and I feel he is flipping every rock right now to make this schedule look competitive and not like desperation.

4. I wouldn’t be surprised if now schools that we are reaching out to to play know that we need them more than they need us and are either asking for a payday or requiring us to come to them, which we can only pay so much and host so little.

5. Again the “FBS” schedule in 2026 is done for. And we are definitely not getting any more regional FBS games added this year. Every PAC 12 and MW team already has an FCS school on the schedule.

6. I think be prepared to see us play a handful teams from the UAC, from what can be researched only like 2 teams have a 12 game schedule and the rest have 10 or 11. But again all those schools have announced basically their full schedules… and we aren’t on them.

Crossing my fingers and hoping (to be wrong) for the best
