And we were first mentioned! The way that FBS conference expansion is driven by TV markets, a move up by EWU isn't that out of the question if we can continue the great crowd support from the last few seasons. Actually, a move up would instantly fill the proposed stadium expansions in my opinion.
A move up would only make sense (not just for us but Montana, Montana State and others) if it were done as part of a group of the stronger Big Sky schools. And if there were enough TV monies in the deal to offset signifcantly higher costs with a move up.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the next 5 years. I think that we are on the rise. I agree that we need to stay with our peers.
It is critical that we get the Gateway Project going whether it is to keep growing in the Big Sky or to be included in a future hypothetical Big Sky split.
I think one more year of 104% attendance will get us over the hump.
It is nice being a big fish in a little pond but bigger challenges are interesting as well. As long as the Big Sky stays strong as we play quality FBS programs for our out of conference games I am happy where we are now.
But just in case... will the design of the Gateway project accommodate enough seating to move up to FBS? Anybody know if other amenities are included in the project or contemplated in a future expansion to make the change as painless as possible?
