I can't believe Catcat hasn't started a thread about this, but...this is absolutely remarkable. Good job Cats!! Keep up the good work. Is this a 25 win season?

It's no suprise Weber has the 22nd highest winning percentage in the nation. We have a great program here, and one we are very fortunate to have.

And it is only getting better and better. Weber has one of the best recruiting classes joining next year, not to mention the redshirts joining the team. The Cats are going to be deep and talented.

According to the conference notes, Weber has 26 20-win seasons in its 50-year history as a Division I program.

1960's: 4
70's: 6
80's: 4
90's: 5
00's: 3
10's: 3

total: 25

In 1962 Weber Junior College became the first junior college in the country to move from the juco ranks straight into NCAA Division I basketball.
The Big Sky Conference was established in 1963.
Weber's first graduating class as a four-year institution was 1963-64.

so it looks like we had 1 season before the big sky.

WEBER REACHES 20 WINS: Weber State notched its 20th win of the season with a 70-66 road win over Oral Roberts on Saturday. This marks the fifth time in Randy Rahe’s seven season the Wildcats have won at least 20 games. This is the 25th time Weber State has won at least 20 games in a season since the inception of the Big Sky in 1963-64. WSU has 26 20-win seasons in its 50-year history as a Division I program. Montana is one victory away from securing its fourth straight 20-win season.

So did Weber win over 20 in 62-63 then? Would that season even count? Was the Cats using Jr. and Sr. that season?

so we have won 25 of them as a big sky member. so obviously there was a 20 win season the only non big sky yr - 1962-63. let me verify it and post who we beat! :thumb:

here is the lone weber season as a DI prior to playing in the big sky as a charter member.

1963.jpg

looks like we smoked a bunch of non-DI's lol.

we have had 20 win seasons in 52% of our 50 yr program. also we have 19 big sky titles which is 38% of all big sky titles in big sky history. if we can get a share this yr, that would put us at 40%. only nau x-country has won more titles than weber basketball.

Weber was DI then so it counts. Even if the Cats only played 8 DI teams.

talhad,

i have to wonder if there were any DI schools on that list? for sure nevada wasn't. i am not sure if any were. lol so between 0-8 DI games. zags probably not, san diego probably not.

I'm not sure either. I tried to check on Nevada Reno, but couldn't find any information. To be honest, I really didn't try too hard.

I'm pretty sure Montana and Idaho State were both DI at the time. I'm thinking that Gonzaga was too, since they joined the conference with Weber so they had to be in a similar situation as the Cats DI independent. Maybe the same with CS Fullerton too. Who knows. Gonzaga would make sense though. They joined the Sky in 63-64, when Weber did, and it would make sense that they had to be DI at least 1 season before joining the conference.
