#3 EWU at Cal Poly Game Thread

Lets see we're up by 32 points in the 4th quarter and I'm thinking it's in the bag. The coaches have to get this 4th quarter play calling figured out

No field goal?! What the hell?!

I really like that they went for it. The game was over a while ago. Cal Poly just doesn't have the ability to come back from behind. We have a lot of second string players on the field on offense and defense. These guys need the experience of being put under pressure. They didn't make it, so what? We just don't beat Cal Poly as badly.

Welcome to your opinion. In context to the whole last 5 possessions that avg'd 3.5 and out, a field goal was in order. Coach Beau's call though.

Good game. We need to stop letting teams score so many damn points in the 4th quarter though. Hope Vernon and TJ Boatright will be ok.

I see where you are coming from. I can understand being a little frustrated with the performance that last quarter. It's just that I can foresee Vitto playing in the playoffs. Vernon takes a lot of hits and has cramping issues. Excellent athlete, but we very much need our backup quarterback prepared for tough situations.

Honestly expected to give up 10 points in "garbage time", but agree with who said, "we shouldn't stop ourselves on offense, that's the other teams job" (paraphrase)

ONE HELL OF A GAME! HUGE WIN! SAFE TRIP HOME TONIGHT!

Vitto is completely capable. Run the offense!

Coach B said himself after the Montana game that he wasn't going to lay off the throttle anymore. Was he concussed and forgot?

Put the pedal to the metal!

It did get pretty conservative and I was in the majority of complainers about letting off the gas against Montana, but with that being said . . .end of the season. . . .a lot of families from Cali coming to see kids play . . . up by 30ish . . .EVERYONE PLAYS!
Save starters for another day (playoffs and a bye week. . . bigger fish to fry.
IN BEAU I TRUST!

Come on Root. The punter gets a personal foul called on him and we don't get to see it?
CP was sending two right up the middle at Zylstra then tipped him after the punt was away and the two CP players sat on him. Miller grabbed one and threw the guy off. Gotta love a feisty punter looking out for his protectors!

Cal Poly and Montana are two different teams.
Really? CP had Montana beat at Montana but had a 26 yd field goal attempt blocked at the end of theegame. With like 10 seconds left, UM tied the game to send it to OT where they eventually won. CP outplayed them in everything but the score.

So, were you trying to say Cal Poly is better than UM?? I thought so...

Congrats on the the win. Very impressed with the Eagles. Now go rep the Big Sky and win the National Championship.
First class, SloStang! Thanks!
Agree . . .I am glad that game is over CP hits and plays hard. They were by far the hardest hitting and most aggressive D we have played this year.

No, what I'm saying is Cal Poly doesn't have the comeback ability that Montana has. Cal Poly's whole game plan runs out the clock. The game was secure, because Cal Poly did not have the comeback ability.

It is an excellent situation to be in when your backup QB is a redshirt Senior with 5 years in the program. Vitto is very capable and could probably be the starter for a few Big Sky teams. That said, I hope we DO see Vernon in the playoffs. That shoulder hit is concerning, but he didn't seem to worried about it at the end of the game. Smart call by the coaches to take his helmet away.

+1 Ranger. Vitto has shown great leadership off the bench.
