#3 EWU @ ISU Game Thread

Kupp is only 18 yards shy of 1000 on the year... with a little more than 3 full games left to play.

If he doesn't win the Rice Award, the system is fucked.

Looks like EWU will take the victory formation. That's a little bit more classy than 2 years ago when they put their QB back in the game so he could win the Walter Payton Award.

Seriously though, good game Bengals. Not quite what I expected, but our defense completely shit the bed in this game.

Has me deeply concerned about next week.
I would be concerned if MSU hadn't squeaked by UNC, who lost to ISU by two TDs. MSU also got a gift "fumble" by the refs at the UNC 20 or so on their first drive by the refs... the RB or WR's elbow was on the turf when the ball came out. Next play MSU scored a TD to go up 14-0. It will probably be a high scoring game next week, but I'm not too worried. MSU has looked very suspect the last three weeks.

Concerned about conditioning mid to late season isn't good. Don't want to be knee jerk, but this has been coming, time to wake up and make the necessary adjustments. Any help available from the redshirts?

I don't think it's conditioning as much as the effect that all these injuries has on our depth. It means guys are playing more snaps than usual.

Getting them on the Inferno won't hurt, will need to be able to stop the run enough to get off the field on long third downs occasionally. ISU was looking like FSU there for awhile.

I'm glad you're not worried, but I am extremely concerned. We play like this next week we get blown out. We better pray some of these guys that are injured are able to suit up versus MSU.

OK, Any help available from the redshirts in your opinion?

I'm hoping it was just 19 and 20 year old kids losing their focus. I think coach will have them ready to play next week because, without improvement, MGee and Co. will hang some points on us. Here is to hoping that we get some healing done next week in the secondary and start fast and finish strong.

Woah, woah, WOAH, chicken little. If EWU and MSU both play like they did today, EWU would win by 7-10. Now, if we play like we did today (on defense) and MSU plays their best game, then yeah, we would be blown out. Most likely though, it will be a good, close game. It's not like we'll have a problem with motivation. Also, it appears Baldwin and co. learned their lesson after last week, and kept their foot on the gas. MSU will get our best shot, and we're playing at home. We will not be blown out. :tothehand:

I wonder how many of those awards ISU has won. I think it was their color guy who spent more time complaining about every call the refs made that didn't benefit ISU. The other guy I thought was pretty fair and called a good game. Kind of like Weir and Soronsen.

I watched parts of the MSU game on Root Sports and it was obvious to me that they were a much more talented team that UNC. It looks like they took a game off or were playing to their level of competition to an extent. The fact is that MSU is a much different team with Denarious McGhee at full health and it took a blocked punt and an INT to beat them last year. This game is also most likely for the Big Sky Championship and I wouldn't place any bets on them having another one off game like they did against the Bears of UNC.

Here's the bottom line. EWU has had a tendency to play up or down to their competitions level for most of the last 4 years. I don't like it, and it gets extremely frustrating, but they usually win those games like yesterday. In 2010, how many times did we blow a lesser team out of the water? Last year, how many people kept saying we weren't for real because we played so many close games? Yesterday was no different, and we still ended up getting a 3 TD win on the road against a better ISU team than the recent years. We also did this with our two starting secondary guys playing.

This team will have no problem being motivated for next weeks game. Should be a blast in front of a sold out, black out crowd!! 8-)

GO EAGLES!!!!

Of course MSU is a much more talented team than UNC. Almost every team in the Big Sky is. The thing is, we're a more talented team than MSU, at least when we're healthy. Even so, MSU isn't healthy right now either. As for last year's game, Adams was still very wet behind the ears, and MSU's defense was a lot stronger than it is currently.
