3 Game Roadtrip

Start tonight off with Sac State. Eags need a win to go above .500 in conference. These are the type of road trips which killed our past few seasons, need to pull out 2 victories over teams that we are better than and should beat. Sac St. has been the bottom dwellar the past few years, but they have improved this year. If we can win both conference games (3rd game is against Non Conf Seattle) we would move to 3rd in the conference with a good slate of home games the following weeks.

This is a big weekend for the team and 2 conference road wins would be huge for confidence as well as playoff seeding in the Big Sky.

No question that this is a big road trip. I disagree with the statement that Sac St is better than they have been the past couple years. The Sagarin Ratings and RPI would support my dissent. In fact, right now the Big Sky, as a conference, is worse in the Sagarin and RPI than it has been in a long time. We should sweep Sac St, Idaho State, NAU and Montana State (all of whom are between 280 and 300 in the Sagarin) just by showing up for the games. If there was ever a year for us to jump into the top 3, this is it.

Old Time, I agree that the bottom of the conference this year is not as competitive, but ya never know in the big sky. I agree we should sweep Sac, Idaho st, NAU, and MSU, of the 4 MSU is the toughest and we beat them on the road already. I think we should sweep PSU as well. This Saturday will be a tough game against UNC, but I honestly don't know much about them except they lost a lot from last years team.

I don't think Eastern loses more than 3 games from here on out. We won't be favored at Weber, the Griz in Cheney will be tough, and at UNC/PSU should be difficult as well. I think we can afford 3 more losses in conference and still take the 3 seed this year, if Weber beats the Griz on Saturday and the Griz stumble once or twice before coming to Cheney, and we win both conference games this weekend, that griz game in Cheney could be for the 2 seed. Right now Weber is the class of the conference but the Griz are not far behind (although EWU could have won that game in Missoula).

I'm not too comfortable with predictions given Chiverton's foot. We struggled with NAU until he came in.

At half only down by 4 after shooting 7-29 (24%) and three pt 5-19 (26%)....get our touch back and we can win this game no prob.

Ugly First half, need to hit some shots, tied at 33 with 17 min to go in 2nd half. We should be up 10, can't make any shots, Sac st. is not very good.

That is kind of like the guy that just got his ass kicked and he says the other guy is not very tough.

Haha...True...but Eastern really should be up big in this one, not playing very well but hopefully we can hang on in the last minute.

Good win! Not a pretty one, but a win is a win on the road. Chiverton kept us in it and played well and Colimon hit some big time shots down the stretch with Chiverton out.

over .500 in conference and now in 3rd place in the big sky...

A win is a win, regardless how how ugly it is. Wonder if this team will ever get over the long droughts? Saturday they will probably shoot lights out in the 1st half and struggle in the second?? I hope not. A good clean win before going to Seattle would be good.

As everyone says, not pretty, but a win is a win.

Saturday will be interesting... I will be there to watch in person, so I am excited about that.

I wonder if Chiverton sits for the Seatttle game... he is always day to day they say... but with it being a non-conference tilt, seems like it would be a good one for him to sit out.

Hats off to Chiverton. I've been critical and rightfully so, but he has had a couple nice game and even had three assists today! Unfortunately, we are not going to win many games allowing our opponent to shoot 57% from the floor, 55% from three and get to the line 40 times. Those are gaudy numbers. Before we blame the refs, remember that we have been doing this all year. Our defense must improve. We should roll from here on with our only tuff games being Montana and Weber. Third place.

I was at the game, and while the refs called a tight game and were inconsistent at times, I don't think this is one to blame on the refs. EWU has been fouling all year, and UNC was aggressive (Hill said that was the game plan, to be aggressive because he knows that EWU will be a bit too physical). Hayford told me after the game he wants his guys to play hard and smart... and so far, they have the playing hard part down, but not the smart. Seems pretty apt.

Colimon being shut down by Elliott Lloyd was huge, and when Colimon fouled out their offense really struggled. Chiverton was the only guy able to make his own shot, and he was involved in a lot of offense/defense substitutions starting midway through the second half, his foot must have been hurting a lot.

Tough loss on Saturday, UNC is a decent team and besides Chiverton, we were not making shots. Cliff C had a real tought night, he won't have many of those and we still had a chance to win it.

Seattle U tonight, not a conference game, but Seattle U has a pretty good squad. I would not be surprised to see Chiverton sit this one out because of his foot and the fact that this game is not a conference game. Hopefully the Eags come to play tonight and can get back to on track with the next two weeks being played at home.
