#3 Weber St @ #5 Montana

Not coming back with this ultraconservative offense.

2 turnovers in first half and special teams errors. They flat out didn’t show up for this game. Can’t fall behind big with a scheme like Schramm’s or with the QB talent.

Might need to put in the 3rd string QB and just regroup next week to play for a split of title.

Weber leads time of possession 21:18-8:42 and are down by 18. Unreal. This is on the special teams.

Not just special teams, offensive scheme is simply not good; execution not great. Secondary on the simple slant? So weak!

I guess it's too much to hope for a good, competitive game between two top-ranked teams. Reminiscent of the Maine game, but way uglier.

Damn or back is getting torched ...welp we might have needed this going into the playoffs....let’s hope for a second half miracle

Agreed, the offense is crap. But without those bad punt snaps it isn't unrealistic that it could have been 7-3/6 at the half. But doesn't really matter as Weber gives up another huge TD pass to start the 2nd half.

Feared going in that good luck & favorable breaks might run out. But this is a nightmare & perhaps a wake up call going forward.

As the announcers commented, anything that could go wrong has gone wrong for the Wildcats in the first half. Just can't help feeling maybe this is a little about harsh reality showing up with some weaknesses glaringly exposed on a bad day. But maybe with a warning call at a right moment before the playoffs?

Still plenty to play for & get things straightened out. Still cheering for you WILDCATS & hoping for great wins ahead...shake it off & fight on!!

UGLY Loss. Cats shot themselves in the foot early and often and never looked capable of coming back.

Offense - D plus
The early deficit combined with a sputtering running attack forced Weber to throw more than they probably would like. Constantine managed the game ok early, but did not have the weapons to come back from the 21-3 deficit early. Weber ultimately turned the ball over 4 times with three of those being interceptions. Credit one of the interceptions to the receiver tipping the ball straight up in the air. The second was a poor decision by Constantine in the end zone and the final one was a tip at the line of scrimmage. Montana had their hands in the passing lane all game long, not sure we have seen that many tips all year. Only real highlight on offense was Ty Macpherson stepping up with 11 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown. He also drew multiple penalties against #3 for Montana.

Defense - C minus
Defense looked ok at the start, but they were on a short field too often and eventually wore down. In addition Weber did not limit the bleeding when they needed to, They gave up way too many long plays for touchdowns. Defensive line put pressure on Sneed, but the secondary looked young and inexperienced. Weber is relying on single coverage with safety help over the top. Often one safety is over committing to the run or is in man coverage as well. Safeties have taken terrible angles on several plays and the corners have been beaten on routes where they have really needed the safety help.

Special Teams - F
Not saying special teams lost the game single handedly, it was a team effort. However they put Weber in such hole that they never recovered. Two horrible punt plays, a missed field goal and a missed extra point. No return game with Shaheed out. Only positives were the Wildcats limiting Montana to no big returns.

Injuries
Injuries were terrible this game and that probably contributed to the loss as well. Devon Cooley took a hard hit with helmet to helmet contact on the second drive and Josh Davis also took a shot from the safety that could have been a targeting call, though he returned to the game. Neither play resulted in a penalty. Rashid Shaheed had a nasty injury to the ankle/knee while run blocking. Marque Collins was shaken up but eventually returned. Kamden Garrett took a hit from friendly fire and went out in the second quarter as well. Justin Malone went down in the fourth quarter with a lower leg injury and then finally Constantine went out with what looked like a pretty serious injury. Tyler Downs (knee) has been out most of the year.

Penalties
Weber only committed 3 penalties for 35 yards. One of the penalties was another phantom block on an interception return for a TD. Weber knocked a Montana player down and a second blocker pushed his guy over the fallen Griz player. Probably the least penalties all year. So I guess that was a win.

Lick the wounds, get healthy-ish and stomp Pocatello State for the three-peat. With any luck, the Bobcats will bless us with a smackdown of the Griz.

One thing noticed all year is that arena ks don’t get enough passes out the back when are qb is under pressure and in general on the play calling. We have fast and versatile backs any open space with create big gains. The play calling has to step up we don’t have a duel threat qb.. we gotta utilize everything we have
