I will attempt to answer your question regarding recruits. I am the self-proclaimed Big Sky recruiting expert, so why not...LOOOOOOOL
Anyway, succinctly, YES. Weber has the best class, at present. The Spring signing period is quickly approaching and who knows a couple of the teams might be able to get a quality JC signee or a high school SR who snuck through (chances aren't good for that in the Sky; most quality SRs who haven't signed will go to a JC to see if they can increase their stock and get picked up by a bigger school; Hajek was an aberration. He was a great spring pickup for the Cat).
Weber will be adding 5 next year (I'm including Mook and Hajek), a player for each position. Three Freshman who have the potential to start right away, a DI transfer who is going to be a defensive and rebounding beast, and a 6-11 kid?? Yeah, not a bad class. Yes, Weber loses Hughey and Morris, but gets Lillard back and another Lillardesque guard in Gelaun Wheelwright. Shai Fields is a lights out shooter who knows how to run the floor and is a pretty exceptional defender (overlooked since he averaged 20.5 this year). Finally, honestly, Weber signed the best Utah High School player in the 2011 graduating class. He was overlooked by the other four because he played 3A ball and was at Wasatch. Their loss is definitely our gain. I got to watch him last week and I was very impressed. He has a commanding influence on the court and exudes confidence. I'm shocked he wasn't recruited more heavily.
UNC, UM, and NAU each have nice looking classes coming in, but only NAU can compete with what Weber is bringing in. Weber is definitely the class of the Sky.
Eastern didn't need to recruit to much, they are returning virtually their entire team, and if they stay healthy we all need to be a bit worried. That team is electric when they are playing with confidence. Glenns early season injury, like Lillards, really helped his team for the future. It made other players take responsibility and improve their games.
ISU...hmmmm...No ONE knows what the Hell OB does. I'm sure he will sign three JCs and a late season high schooler this spring, but will he even be back?
PSU continues to get talent, but its not meshing. I'm not giving up on Greiving as the coach. I think he has what is needed, but so far it hasn't happened. I'm thinking the probation is having a pretty negative affect on the program.
MSU...well...they have some nice role type players coming in, but nothing to exceptional. I'm thinking Huse will try to sign a JC or two this spring, but losing Rusch, Howard, and Piepolli is going to hurt the bobcats. There is some hope in Tre Johnson and Shawn Reid, but until Huse can get some better post players, I think the Bobcats will continue to struggle.
